A key leadership position within the Business Development department of Siemens Rail Infrastructure, reporting directly to the Head of Sales and working closely with the Strategy and Business Development team and the wider business, to ensure sales management and business generation from new and existing markets within their allocated regions. 

What are my responsibilities?
  • You will have business development responsibility for our CIS business and as part of the wider team you will develop positive relationships with our key customer accounts including Network Rail Telecoms (NRT), regions within Network Rail, Transport for London, other transport authorities and local government. 
  • To be successful in the role you will need to develop and lead effective customer relationship management plans for all customers, ensuring strategic messages are routed through the right channels. You will grow our order intake by developing authentic relationships with senior customers from the earliest stages of business development, including influencing scopes and routes to market, target pricing and key messages 
  • You will be involved in Defining and implementing innovative ways to position the organisation to secure new business well in advance of the procurement process, including identifying new technical and commercial business offerings.
  • You will be a key contributor to the continuous development of the Siemens Rail Infrastructure Strategic Plan and be at the fore of market and competitor analysis activities
  • Effective communication is essential to enable all areas of our business to understand our customers strategies to that we can develop new technology which have a clear market. Communication will also be key to support our marketing strategies, which includes attendance and speaking at seminars, conferences and other events
  • You will be part of a team who are striving to be world class and will be willing to share your knowledge and experience to contribute to our continuous improvement ethos.

What do I need to qualify for this role?
  • Experience in a technology (ideally Control and Information Systems) or project delivery business ( £40m+ p.a.) 
  • Successful track record in value based selling and business development
  • Creative & Strategic problem solver 
  • Commercially astute with high integrity 
  • Highly driven, self-motivated and agile
  • Strong influencing skills with credibility at board level internally and externally 
  • Good degree of mobility to spend a time away from the agreed ‘base’ office as required (40%) 
  • Pro-active with high energy levels, who is used to working to achieve ambitious targets
  • Understands the UK rail market and its customers
  • Possess a good understanding of the way in which railway projects are bid, contracted and delivered in order to influence, monitor and challenge every aspect of the win strategy 
  • Customer focused with a strong network within the rail industry
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a business or technically related subject area
  • Intimate knowledge of Network Rail’s business and its partners
  • International experience – working with different cultures in a large corporate environment
