What you will do for Siemens Mobility:

The Head of Quality will be responsible for the overall functional success within the Rail Infrastructure North America and will require 25% domestic travel. You should have an advanced understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, and performance management.

Ideally, you will have a detailed use of know-how to tackle sophisticated problems and demonstrate high professional judgment competence. You will be an idea generator for new and practical solutions, possibly changing existing approaches and impacting results in a larger, matrixed organization. It would be best to be well-established in external and internal networks within the specialist field and actively share knowledge in larger organizations to grow the know-how base and support a learning organization.

You will have significant interaction and collaboration internally with Management, Sales, Finance, Project Management, Service, and Business Management. Head of Operational Excellence, North America scope includes:

Quality Management System:

Give leadership and guidance to quality management on related topics. Give independent quality management leadership for continuous improvement overall PM@Siemens. Supports all organizational units involved in the area of responsibility in all issues relating to the improvement process, required change management, standardization for processes and products, and standards and rules. In individual instances, this role supports standalone projects implemented within the context of a quality task force. With your advice and the units involved, ensure that the measures resulting from audits and complaints (lessons learned) have a long-term effect.

Quality planning:

Ensure defined quality targets-based project critical factors and determine methods/tools clearly explained concerning standard processes. Provide leadership on quality strategy/objectives and the quality assurance measures relevant to the manufacturing process.

Support process improvement projects within the context of the Business Unit's / Business Segment's requirements.

Quality Control:

Implement specific critical metrics for objective-oriented quality control, ensure an appropriate quality information system, assurance of adherence to the necessary business processes using BU-internal assessments and audits

Quality Assurance:

Establishment of regular reporting cycles for important metrics. Lead quality task forces and performance or support the required tasks within the Business Unit.

Quality Improvement:

Lead the efforts for a continuous improvement process. Develop improvement concepts and measures. Support of (process) improvement projects. Initiation and support of good practice sharing and lessons learned across the Quality organization

Responsibilities:
  • Develops, controls, and ensures the implementation and improvement of an Integrated Management System (including process management) for the respective organization and defines the overall quality strategy according to market and business needs.
  • Plans, implements, and follows up the audit program (including certification audits) and assessments.
  • Initiates and promotes strategic, global quality programs and monitors the efficiency of these programs.
  • Drives continuous improvement with management and lessons learned across assigned organizations.
  • Leads the specialist competence department for product safety. Ensures that all requirements are met, coordinates product safety measures, and monitoring. Coordinates the product safety reporting.
  • Contributes to appropriately analyzing customer quality requirements and satisfaction (e.g., NPS) to meet customer expectations.
  • Develops, controls, and ensures the implementation of a professional non-conformance (NC) management.
  • Develops, controls, and ensures the implementation and improvement of relevant quality reporting, including Management Review.
  • Plans budget for strategic, global quality programs and the related financial and personnel resources and aligns this with the interpersonal unit's budget plan.
  • Ensures with HR the implementation of a competence management and training system for quality-related competencies.
  • Develops and implements the communication strategy/plan to ensure understanding and awareness of specific quality topics
Required Knowledge/Skills/Education:
  • 10 -15 years of successful hands-on experience within rail transport, focused in the areas of back-office solutions & information technology
  • Proven experience with multi-year and multi-million-dollar successful project leadership.
  • Externally recognized technology specialist in the respective field who uses their network

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret industry and product-related technical information.

  • Advanced user of MS Word, Excel, Visio, and Project
