EHS Advisor

Job Description

We are recruiting for an EHS Advisor to offer expert knowledge and skills in order to effectively manage, generate and promote a positive EHS culture within the corporate and central functions of Siemens plc.

Working with a wide variety of internal departments and some external facing units, the role will provide the necessary support and guidance in health, safety and environmental requirements, thus ensuring compliance at all times with both company and statutory EHS requirements.

The role will be based in Manchester, with 2/3 days per week required in the Manchester office. 

Reporting to the EHS Manager you will have, but not limited to the following responsibilities:
• Support the central functions on all EHS matters and maintain the EHS management systems to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Be a focal point for EHS at the Manchester head office.
• Provide support in the preparation and development of EHS strategies and internal policy
• Provide support for the development of robust EHS plans, risk assessments and safe work procedures at our office locations.
• Develop and deliver EHS inductions, training, toolbox talks and safety bulletins.
• Review current operational risk assessments and safe working procedures and practice to ensure suitability and that they are and remain “fit for purpose”
• Undertake site inspections and compliance audits across the central functions (both planned or unplanned) to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and adhered to
• Support Line Managers to ensure the appropriate level of investigation is conducted for any accident / incident / dangerous occurrence that takes place and help identify the root cause.
• Provide the appropriate level of health safety and environmental input and attendance as required at departmental meetings (internal and external)
• Act as a guide / facilitator during external audits
• Provide regular reports and statistical data on the status of EHS matters

Qualifications / Experience
• Experience in an EHS role
• Experience of supporting or owning ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 management systems
• NEBOSH NGC as a minimum, working towards NVQ/diploma
• TechIOSH membership (or equivalent), working towards GradIOSH as a minimum
• PIEMA is advantageous
• Internal auditing experience 
• Strong interpersonal skills and effectiveness in dealing with personnel at all levels
