What will you do?

Our business is growing, and we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Digital Industries (DI) team! As the Controller for two Business Units, Factory Automation and Motion Control, you will provide financial leadership and management of business units and segments, including management of profit and loss statements, balance sheets and free cash flow. This role also provides support to the Technical Head of business unit and other segment managers related to the assigned portfolio. This includes financial/operational support and financial reviews related to the approved business plans, targets setting, budget and forecast or support during projects due diligence phases as needed. The BU Controller is a key role in the Digital Industries leadership team and reports to the DI Head of Finance.

  • Overall financial leadership and management of Factory Automation (FA) and Motion Control (MC) business units (Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Free Cash Flow)
  • Manage the fast top line growth of FA&MC Canada, including pipeline management and distribution channels
  • Develop and monitor financial/operational metrics to measure the business profitability and efficiency. Communicate to management and HQ, recommend solutions for problem areas, find cross functional improvement opportunities
  • Prepare timely and accurately annual budgets/monthly forecasts for the assigned portfolio. This includes detailed analysis of fluctuations and variances as compared to the actual results, market trends, impact on targets setting and achievement
  • Maintain and update planning models, tools and processes to reflect current and future changes to the business as new information is acquired
  • Analyze and monitor against the targets the Operating Expenses and SG&A for the respective businesses
  • Interact proactively with respective business units and segments managers, Operations, Sales, Distribution, Project Management to manage orders from bid phase to execution (e.g. RFP packages, Terms & Conditions negotiations, orders execution and delivery etc.)
  • Defining workflows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness. Drive automation and digitalization of financial and operational processes
  • Work with Digital Industries strategy and sales teams to develop go to market plans and portfolio, to address new technologies and country concepts
  • Conduct due diligence related to all business administration, reporting and accounting topics. Support in the review and update of procedures and controls as it pertains to the related portfolio and risk/audit requirements
  • Work cooperatively with Headquarter, other Digital Industries businesses and Siemens Canada cross functions; manage third party relationships as needed
  • Willing to assume and complete ad-hoc/special projects and/or other assignments as delegated by management.

About you

You have a passion for growing businesses and a sense for leading changes. We are also looking for a highly competent finance leader who has gained experience in Finance functions in a business environment selling industrial products, digital solutions, executing projects in a global matrix organization with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

You will have excellent people skills to develop your team capability, motivate and lead individuals, and manage multiple sets of stakeholders in and outside Digital Industries as well as external partners.

  • Degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or Business Administration
  • Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) and/or MBA preferred
  • Proven track record of successfully leading an organization by targets, stakeholder management and influencing
  • Solution oriented mindset with clear focus on implementation with a hands-on attitude
  • You are well structured and proactive in your work and approach to assignments
  • You have accounting and financial reporting experience and knowledge of bid management and small projects execution
  • You drive financial day to day operations, planning and strategic initiatives
  • You have excellent written and oral presentation skills to effectively present information to diverse groups and C-level management
  • You are experienced in working in a matrix organization and leading people in a multinational group environment.
