Siemens EDA has an opportunity for an experienced Hardware Engineer responsible, as part of the worldwide Siemens EDA team for development and testing of the Speed Adapter products. Speed Adapter products provide a rate-adapted connection between real-world bus interface protocols, such as Ethernet, PCI Express, or USB, to an ASIC or SoC design being verified in a hardware emulator.  The development will require developing IP for the latest protocols such as 400/800G Ethernet, USB4, PCIe Gen6/7 and CXL2/3.  It will involve close teamwork and collaboration with other members of the team in Europe and Egypt as well as locally in Minneapolis. This is a hands-on technical role covering a variety of interesting tasks, working with FPGA development tools, through to bring-up and debug work in the Lab using test and measurement equipment along with protocol generators.  Based in Minneapolis, USA with Siemens EDA.  Occasional travel, including overseas, may be required.

Job Qualifications:

  • 5+ years proven experience.
  • Must have degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
  • Must have experience with Verilog, FPGA implementation, simulation, and synthesis.  
  • Must have some Bus protocol understanding and experience, for example Ethernet, PCI Express, or USB.  
  • Strong communications skills, written and spoken. Tenacity in approach to problem solving.  
  • Prefer some hardware laboratory experience with Logic / Protocol Analysers and test equipment.

The Hardware Engineer reports directly to the local Engineering Manager in Shoreview MN, Siemens EDA.  Works as part of the worldwide development team on roadmap projects for Speed Adapter products to be used directly with Emulation.
