Circuit Breaker Mechanic B, 1st Shift- Grand Prairie, TX

Job Description


Assembles, modifies, tests, and adjust settings to different types of circuit breakers with the use of mechanical/electrical tools and testing equipment.


  • ·        Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • ·        Experience: None
  • ·        Specialized Training: None
  • ·        Knowledge: None
  • ·        Skills: Basic computer skills and use of basic mechanical and electrical tools.
  • ·        Other: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • ·        Abilities:
  • ·        Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
  • ·        Must be able to reach, grasp, lift 50 lbs , and push/pull/slide heavy material
  • ·        Must be able to make coordinated movements of the hands and arms to grasp and move objects.
  • ·        Must be able to stand for duration of shift, also must be able to occasionally stoop, bend, squat, crawl, and climb.
  • ·        Scans in and out of work orders (with the use of computers, scanning devices, etc.) in adherence to the production schedule or expedited orders
  • ·        Reads and interprets documents associated with the completion of circuit breaker modification (e.g. bill of materials, blue prints, etc.).
  • ·        Operates tools and equipment common to the mechanical and electrical trades (e.g. wire strippers, power tools, breaker testers, etc.).
  • ·        Disassembles/reassembles breaker units to add, remove, adjust, or replace parts.
  • ·        Installs, routes, and connects wires in accordance to specifications.
  • ·        Puts together unit subassemblies (e.g. electronic trip units ‘ETU’, cradles, shutters, etc.).
  • ·        Marks/labels wires and parts with identifying information and/or attaches identifying tags.
  • ·        Programs breaker ETU’s and sets safety settings
  • ·        Conducts circuit breaker testing (e.g. mechanical, electrical, primary injection).
  • ·        Performs product quality checks to verify conformance with specifications.
  • ·        Reports non-conforming items (e.g. unserviceable parts, breakers not modified properly, etc.).
  • ·        Cleans and maintains equipment and work area to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
  • ·        Performs other work as directed by supervision.
