Software Engineering Manager - Simcenter 3D

Job Description

Siemens offers a comprehensive portfolio of seamlessly integrated software products to support full life-cycle digital analysis, design, and manufacturing. This position manages a team that contributes to the development of products in the Simcenter 3D portfolio.

You will manage a highly innovative, fast-paced development team delivering core capabilities leveraged throughout the Simcenter 3D portfolio products. Your team may develop prototypes, research technologies, and develop applications enabling the delivery of Simcenter 3D products to market. The capabilities delivered by the Simcenter 3D Platform team are integral to customer effectivity and productivity.

You will be a Stakeholder of one or more Agile Scrums, and may be a member of an Agile Scrum as Scrum Master or Product Owner, depending on the team needs and your expertise. You may provide technical consultation to drive design and testing of solutions. You may actively participate in backlog planning, sprint planning, daily scrum, and sprint review.


The primary and majority function of this job is to manage a team. The individual accepting this position manages personnel activities of staff (i.e. hires, trains, appraises, pay, rewards, motivates, disciplines, recommends termination as necessary, etc.). They will work with team members to identify and guide career directions and facilitate individual growth. They are expected to oversee and consult with the team responsible to design, develop, modify, and implement software programming for products (both internal and external) with focus on surpassing customer expectations, on achieving high quality, and on-time delivery.

They are responsible for ensuring the overall functional quality of the released product on all required platforms. They will possess sufficient domain knowledge to understand and analyze requirements to build complex products and solutions, and solve complex problems. This will include working with teams across the organization to prioritize requirements and deliver robust, high quality, and complete solutions. They will engage with broad and direct consulting with customers in regard to future upgrades and products. They will work with product management to set the technical direction for their defined area of products. They promote innovation within their team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Experience programming in a commercial software environment using C++ or other object-oriented languages
  • Solid Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving
  • Ability to work well with a team in a fast-paced, Agile development environment.
  • Software design and implementation that promotes efficient and maintainable code
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment, preferably as a Scrum Master or Product Owner is preferred
  • Experience managing a global, technical software development team is preferred
  • Experience with finite element modeling and analysis and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software preferred
  • Experience with Simcenter 3D or NX preferred
  • Ability to apply product or domain knowledge in the area of Simulation Pre-Processing to drive robust software solutions.
