Manufacturing Automation Engineer

Siemens Grand Prairie is looking for a fulltime Manufacturing Engineer to be an integral part of our journey towards assembly and process automation. The candidate must function as a strong technologist, work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment, and drive solutions from concept to implementation. This engineering position will manage projects which include new production equipment, process improvements and cost reductions while supporting existing manufacturing solutions. An ideal candidate would be a self-motivated individual who possesses high initiative, excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for manufacturing technology advancement.

What you will do:

Production Support
• Develop in depth understanding of manufacturing processes to ensure continuous maintenance and troubleshooting of all existing manufacturing equipment and IT devices
• Supports the organization in meeting production schedules through resolving technical, equipment or operational issues
• Work with Product Development to ensure Design for Manufacturability and promote standardization
Equipment and Fixtures
• Lead projects associated with automation including contractor/integrator management, requirement specification, designing, commissioning, debugging and validation
• Design and implement fixtures required for process improvement
• Provide technical and operational training to operators and maintenance

Software and Interfaces
• Support the implementation and updates of manufacturing software (e.g., Manufacturing Execution System)
• Provide support for interface development
• Assist in identification and commissioning of the necessary devices to support production requirements

What you need:
• Bachelors in any Engineering, Automation or Manufacturing Technology discipline
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience developing capital appropriation requests (business case) including demonstrating business need, calculating ROI and obtaining quotes
• Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
• Experience introducing new products and new processes from a prototype environment to a production environment
• Experience providing feedback to engineering on Design for Manufacturability including automated manufacturing
• Experience designing production line layouts in AutoCAD (2D) and Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor or SolidEdge (3D)
• Proficient in designing, testing, and delivering fixtures/jigs/tooling for assembly (especially via 3D printing)

What will set you ahead of the pack:
• Experience in wire assembly standards and manufacturing, including crimping and harness manufacturing solutions from Komax or Schleuniger
• Understanding of IT infrastructure
• Additive Manufacturing experience with FDM, SLA, or MJF equipment
