Position Overview:

As a member of Siemens Fire Safety R&D, you can develop the technology that protects lives.  Siemens Industry, Inc., a leading provider of fire safety systems, makes buildings safe through the development of fire detection and evacuation systems.

We are looking for a regulatory test engineer with experience in submitting products for safety testing to Certification Agencies such as UL and Factory Mutual (FM) to certify those products and to work with other Siemens development teams throughout the product development cycle.  Experience in managing a small team of engineers is a plus.

This position reports to the Manager of the Hardware and Regulatory Group in Florham Park, NJ.


  1. Analyses, develops, and improves regulatory processes and related standards, methods, and tools.
  2. Conducts UL, FM, and other regulatory agency projects acting as the interface between the internal development teams and those agencies.
  3. Submits and maintains UL, FM, and other regulatory agency documentation.
  4. Conducts UL CTDP tests and maintains records associated with UL17025 and CTDP.
  5. Participates in CTDP audits with UL.
  6. Contributes to the evaluation and enhancement of test tools and methods. May act as leader on certain projects providing technical support.
  7. Works with development engineers to reproduce, diagnose and resolve any regulatory test issues.
  8. Operates laboratory test equipment.
  9. Identifies any failures during test execution and reports to appropriate engineering team members.
  10. Records test data and makes calculations to reduce data to presentation form.

Required Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering field.
  2. Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in regulatory work or directly related field.
  3. Familiarity with computers (Windows).

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience working with Underwriters’ Laboratories.
  2. UL864, UL268, ULC-S527, UL2572, ULC-S576 knowledge.
  3. Prior system troubleshooting experience.
  4. Experience managing a team of engineers.
