Position Title: Residential Senior/Consulting Product Development Engineer

Location: Peachtree Corners, GA

Position Overview:

Apply technical faculties and disciplines to design and test new power distribution equipment for the UL and CSA residential markets. Lead multidisciplinary teams to implement new designs into production. Candidate will interact with Product Management, Product Development, and Codes and Standards teams to ensure new products meet customer and applicable standards requirements and conduct meetings with manufacturing to ensure DFM principles are achieved.

This position will report to the Product Development Engineering Manager for residential electrical products and function as an individual contributor.


  • Design, prototype, and test components and systems for power distribution equipment for UL/CSA residential markets.
  • Organize and lead teams via PLM process to introduce new products into production.
  • Utilize knowledge of applicable codes and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborates with Product Management, other R&D teams, Manufacturing, Test facilities, and Standards Engineers.
  • Coordinate projects with UL (and other agencies as required), including all required testing at internal and external labs.
  • Travel to manufacturing locations for new product implementation as well as suppliers and customers. Estimated Travel ~ 10%.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+years’ experience working with electro-mechanical products.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading teams in a product development environment.
  • Project management skills related to development of detailed project schedules, leading teams, and estimating product costs.
  • Ability to identify internal and external tooling/equipment requirements to assure manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
  • Experience prototyping, testing, and listing products to the following applicable standards: UL 67, 414, 486, and 489 standards is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of CT’s, relay’s, contacts, transfer switches, and controllers is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and use of CAD tools. Familiarity with Pro-E Creo is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with thermal and mechanical simulation software is a plus.
  • Proficient with MS-Office applications.
  • Being Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Detail oriented, analytical thinker combined with strong organizational skills.
  • Self-Driven/proactive at executing daily tasks and achieving project goals and objectives.
  • Ability to own and execute personal / professional development plan as a continuous improvement.
  • Passionate about product development and strong commitment to the company vision.
