The Siemens US Summer Intern Program is built to produce a pipeline of talent to develop and lead into our entry-level programs. As an Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP) Intern, you’ll get hands on experience in a company with over 50,000 employees in the US. At the end of your internship, your performance will be evaluated to be considered for the ELDP Program and other Entry-Level Opportunities within our organization.

What is the Engineering Leadership Development Program?

This is a 12-week summer internship program that offers experience in a real-world working environment. This is your chance to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to solve real-world problems! We provide you with the exposure, network, and practical experience you will need to discover your own personal version of success and find your career path upon graduating.

In Siemens Factory Automation, we help customers across all sectors of manufacturing. We help their plants run faster, more reliably, more securely, and more sustainably.

Specific intern work assignments will involve a wide range of functions, including applications engineering, software design, hardware design, software testing, feasibility analysis, and more.
Possible intern projects include:
  • Developing a proof-of-concept system for automation customers
  • Upgrading demo equipment for the marketing team, or creating a new demo as new products and features are released
  • Debugging, improving, or documenting both customer programs and internal demos
  • Assisting experienced Siemens Applications Engineers with their ongoing projects, which can include any of the above and more
Career Track: Upon successful completion of the internship program, you may have the opportunity to interview for the full-time program to become one of the Applications Engineers in our team at Siemens Factory Automation.

The program starts in May.

  • Major: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week from May to August
  • Organized, self-motivated, effective communication skills, problem-solver
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong programming foundations. Experience can come from any language or environment: Ladder, C#, Python, C/C++, Java, iOS development, Android development, web development, etc.
  • Other beneficial skills (not required): control systems, Ethernet networking, windows app development, power electronics, mechanical statics/dynamics
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
