Under the supervision of the Cards Manager, the Cards Shift Operations manager is responsible for providing direct shift management for Card manufacturing at Siemens Healthineers, Ottawa.

The Manager, Cards Shift Operations is based on site in Ottawa, ON. Siemens Healthineers Ottawa (SHS Ottawa) is a leading manufacturer of a clinical Point of Care (POC) diagnostic product. The epoc© Blood Analysis System is healthcare’s first cost-effective POC testing solution to leverage Smartcard Technology and wireless communication to provide caregivers with real-time, lab-quality blood gas, electrolyte, and metabolite results at the patient bedside. The Manager, Cards Shift Operations is to ensure efficient and diligent execution of production activities in card manufacturing that adheres to standard operating procedures. The Mangers are expected to laisse with supporting groups as required and drive improvement projects.

As the Manager, Cards Shift Operations, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manages overall shift performance for all card lines, responsible for output, quality of
  • product and all associated manufacturing related yields
  • Responsible for entire site in nonbusiness hours, typically overnights and weekends.
  • Assures monitoring and reporting of manufacturing-related data and improvement of
  • data collection procedures.
  • Provides overall reporting for a multi-line shift performance
  • Assures generation of non-conformances impacting card manufacturing.
  • Responsible for ensuring staff is trained to approved/released documents for card
  • production and are fully compliant
  • Responsible for coaching supervisors, ensuring they can backfill for manager, cards shift
  • operations when on leave
  • Assists, directs, or leads equipment adjustment repair, or replacement activities as
  • needed to minimize line downtime. Arranges for or approves on call support as required.
  • Triages and directs action items for technical staff (equipment technicians, chem. prep
  • technicians, and APC/clinical testing) while on shift
  • Coordinates containment implementation activities or process deviation actions and
  • confirm all documentation is completed as prescribed
  • Process or product disposition decision-making. Reviews, assures, or provides oversight
  • of potential product quarantine
  • Leads manufacturing projects
  • Implements Continuous Improvement of manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Generates and modifies manufacturing documentation as required
  • Enforces Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Evaluates downtime data to form appropriate plans of improvement
  • Maintains reliable and safe manufacturing environment while improving production
  • efficiencies
  • Liaises with Equipment maintenance, Process Engineering, R&D, Technical operations to develop a cost-effective production process
  • Works closely with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance of production processes
  • Supports training of Line Supervisors, Line Leads and Op-techs for safe and efficient
  • operation
  • Maintains adequate staffing to effectively fulfill production targets
  • Responsible for administering probationary review for Supervisor, cards and Op-techs,
  • performance and attendance management including vacation and various leave types

·       Develops and maintains a lean culture within card manufacturing

As a successful Manager, Cards Shift Operations you will have:

  • Industrial, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred and/or an equivalent
  • combination of education and technical experience acceptable to Epocal
  • 3 to 5 years of previous experience in supervisory position within a manufacturing
  • company, with demonstrated experience in supervising production lines, Process
  • Engineering and/or Continuous Improvement practices
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations in a regulated industry
  • Experience with electrical, chemical, or electro-chemical engineering and other types of
  • manufacturing processes is an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) software and Windows Operating system
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Great time management skills
