Siemens Mobility Ltd help to solve the problems of increasing traffic by working with railway operators to improve the capacity, punctuality, and security of their systems. We also ensure that the carbon footprint produced by transportation is kept to a minimum. Within our Mobility division, you will be part of a team helping to secure future contracts that will help shape the future of Rail Transport in the UK and beyond.

We are recruiting school and college leavers to join our apprenticeship scheme who want to make a difference and develop their skills in engineering.

The challenge:

Part of being an apprentice at Siemens means you get to work on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey. This will be a 2 year apprenticeship where you will be put onto the bid and proposal level 2 standard.

Here’s how the programme works:
  • When you join the business, you will be allocated both a line manager and a mentor to support you through your apprenticeship 
  • At the same time you will be signed up with a specialist training provider who will deliver the academic element of your apprenticeship with. To support you, 20% of your standard weekly working hours will be spent studying for your apprenticeship qualification. (20% off the job study time throughout your apprenticeship is still paid for).
  • On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have gained the skills and knowledge to be eligible for contributing to the Stores and Materials Management of the CL380 Fleet of Trains. We will also expect you to finish the elements of the structured learning plan, attendance to all performance evaluations, rotations across the business as well as developing your professional competence throughout. 

Here is what you can make a difference in:
  • Gain a strong understanding of the materials life cycle of the Class380 Fleet and how it all fits together; from supplier to customer engagement, capture servicing, exam planning and delivery.
  • Understand and follow a detailed processes and material management procedures.
  • Qualification/Request for Information (RFI) stage, solution development, resource allocation.
  • Understand when to use appropriate supporting templates and procedures, ensuring necessary steps, reviews and signatories are planned prior to material submissions. 
  • Know how to use the Cormap and other software systems to compile electronic submissions and understand how e-portals work.
  • Understand how the Stores work in supporting and assisting in the Operational Efficiency of the trains and identify the customer’s key material requirements.
  • Understand the relevant customer key service issues and Maintenance Strategy.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

You will have achieved or be on track to achieve at least 4 National 4 qualifications including Maths, English and Science.
