This position is part of our Power Technologies International (PTI) team. PTI is our trusted advisor that takes a holistic approach, providing business advisory, technical consulting, and simulation software solutions. Join us in our mission to enable grid operators, along with industry and infrastructure companies, to accelerate and secure this energy transition in a sustainable and profitable way.

It's your role, here's the part you can play:

  • Perform power system analyses using commonly used power system analysis software
  • Organize and lead small and medium-sized project teams, ensuring deliverables are of high quality and projects are completed within budget and schedule
  • Prepare accurate, detailed reports describing performed analyses, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis
  • Provide technical leadership, particularly in distribution system analysis, and share knowledge with colleagues
  • Support proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines
  • Contribute to the development of and maintaining the state-of-the-art knowledge in distribution systems planning and operation and, where needed, participate in transmission planning projects and related studies
  • Find innovative solutions to automate repeating workflows and procedures
  • Identify future opportunities in power distribution consulting services

Be part of our team, here's what's needed:

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in power systems engineering, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in delivering power systems consulting projects and performing analyses using commonly used power system analysis tools
  • Experience in performing power system analyses, including power flow, short-circuit, protection and arc-flash, and power quality (including, harmonic analysis), particularly for applications in distribution systems
  • Experience in conducting Distributed Energy Resource (DER), including energy storage-based DERs, interconnection studies, microgrid feasibility and design studies, hosting capacity analyses, Electrical Vehicle (EV) infrastructure planning, and Volt-VAR control and optimization
  • Knowledge of distribution system planning or operation experience in analyzing transient stability and electromagnetic transients
  • Experience with distribution power system simulation software, such as CYME®, SKM, ETAP®, HOMER, EasyPower, and PSCAD®
  • Programming skills, such as in Python or C#
  • Collaborative, proactive, take active-ownership, enthusiastic about developing new power system analyses skills and software, and train and mentor team members, as needed
  • Ability to present findings clearly in reports, presentations, and communications

Helpful experience and knowledge:

  • Knowledge of transmission system planning studies and the use of related analyses software as follows would be a plus: PSS®E, PSLF, ASPEN OneLiner™, TARA, PSS®CAPE, PSS®SINCAL, PowerFactory
  • Electromagnetic transients power system simulation tools: EMTP-RV®, RSCAD®
  • Advance degree in electrical power systems engineering
