Position Overview

The main objective of this position is to develop business opportunities for Siemens to sell industrial automation, motion products and Digital Software solutions to US machine builders in the printing and building materials industries. The solutions will include Siemens SIMATIC, SINAMICS, SIMOTICS and software products packaged in solutions tailored for the target industries. The business developer will work closely with the Siemens industrial sales force to engage with industry machine builders anywhere in the United States.

This position will report directly to the DI FA PMA BD1 OEM Business Development Manager within the Digital Industry, Factory Automation, Production Machines group. The candidate will be expected to possess experience and knowledge selling to industrial machine builders and a proven record of self-motivation and entrepreneurial talent. The candidate will be expected to set sales targets and drive activities that will support the successful achievement of these targets.

Responsibilities

This position requires strategic planning to foster market share growth.
Candidate must show experience with business plan creation, customer account responsibility and coordination with general sales force. Candidate must be able to handle multiple accounts and responsibilities across multiple industry segments.

Some of the specific tasks to support existing customers are:

· Provide quotations for custom engineered drive systems designed by the PMA Engineering team

· Keep parts list costing and net pricing updated regularly

· Quick response to customer issues and ability to work with others to reach solutions

· Meet weekly with customer to work on forecast of new orders and delivery of current systems

· Working with Siemens management to prioritize material orders to maintain production schedule

· Assist customers to design and specify products: sizing motors & drives, selecting cables, selecting automation

· Coordinate with PMA project manager and engineers to keep projects on schedule

· Work with Siemens finance team and customer to ensure customer stays current on its commitments

· Visit new potential customers with Siemens sales to secure new opportunities and grow the business

· Attend tradeshows specific to printing and building materials industries to seek out new opportunities


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience

• An understanding of end users in the printing and building materials market as well as key players in the machinery manufacturing community
• 3+ years of experience in an applications engineering/business development role using motion control, drives and automation products
• 6+ years of demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to travel up to 25% within US

• Should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a comparable field

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience

• Have an existing network with major customers and demonstrated success with business development
• Have 6+ years of work experience in printing or building materials industry or related fields
• Possess a strong knowledge of motion control and industrial automation
• Knowledge of general business functions, including: marketing, manufacturing, finance, product development, engineering and global business issues
• A working knowledge of financial reporting functions including understanding of LoA process, project financial evaluation criteria (including gross margin, variable cost considerations, EBIT and EVA)
• 2+ years as a business developer and/or sales person with strong industry knowledge in relation to the machinery builders
• Experience working with customers on quotes, proposals and solutions development
• Knowledge of Siemens products or competitors motion & automation products is a plus
