The Manufacturing Test Engineering Manager is responsible for all testing technology areas within our electronics manufacturing facility, providing “quality in process” validation and “value-add” (calibration, loading, field fault simulation) testing of all Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly and final Product assembly processes.
A fast-paced, dynamic and technology driven environment, where you must balance business performance management and improvement, with cutting edge digitisation and automation innovation – contributing to the output in excess of 650,000 industrial power/control products per year.

This is your role. What part will you play?

  • Applying management and leadership standards ensuring the success and future capability of the test engineering team, including competency management and professional development
  • Key advocate and steadfast leadership in core business performance management processes (manufacturing Gemba Kanri, balanced score cards etc.)
  • Ensuring world-class manufacturing testing performance, applying both conventional and new analytical process capability analysis techniques to respective testing technologies and processes
  • Proactive leadership in the strategic and operational planning of technology and innovation, targeting business improvement and sustainability
  • Operational Expenditure (cost centre) budget planning, deployment and control management 
  • Supporting the introduction new product portfolios from the perspective of manufacturing testing strategy; influencing both the Design for Manufacture and evolving new complementary testing methodologies and technologies
  • Project and engineering activity planning, including Capital Expenditure budgeting, justification, procurement and deployment for existing and new equipment processes and technologies  
  • Global engineering collaboration and networking, ensuring Siemens Congleton maintains its position as a lead player within the global manufacturing business function, and driving engineering efficiency through the adoption and contribution to global standardisation and scaling projects

Use your skills to move the world forward.

  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering qualification (preferably electrical/electronic) 
  • Engineering team management/leadership experience – at least 2-3 years preferable
  • Knowledge of manufacturing testing practises at both electronic component process level and final product process level (industrial power/microprocessor control-based products)
  • Knowledge of business financial reporting and cost structures to deliver compelling business improvement ideas and initiatives
  • Business improvement tools and techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma, Value Chain Design, FMEA etc. 
  • An aptitude for innovation leadership especially in the area of digitisation, automation and disruptive technologies
  • The application and facilitation of problem solving and critical thinking techniques to support Continuous Improvement within our factory and core business processes
  • Team management and collaboration within a global community that extends to cultural awareness and ethics
