Your Role – Impactful, Meaningful and Future-Oriented

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Operations for the Rail Infrastructure business is a vital executive leadership role, responsible for the strategic planning, ongoing development, and improvement of Siemens Mobility’s project execution business across Australia and New Zealand.

This position will be responsible for the operational delivery of complex engineering signalling and communications projects with individual project sizes varying from a few hundred thousand to AUD 50 million+ generating around AUD 200 million revenue per year.

The successful candidate will:

  • Drive projects profitability, strategic and organisational alignment, and the steering and control of all project management activities around 3 pillars: quality, schedule and financial position
  • Establish, build, and maintain excellent customer and internal/external stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure our commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental and Quality meets standards and delivers on all requirements
  • Provide strategic direction towards overall project planning and resource management
  • Initiate and oversee continuous development of Project Management infrastructure
  • Take care of effective risk management measures, for the Project Management organization assigned
  • Ensure the assigned Project Management organisation meets all agreed performance goals
  • Provide an agile and competitive market-orientated approach to the delivery of projects
  • Collaborate with the Executive team to ensure optimal decisions are made in the best interests of Mobility and our customers
  • Build an innovative culture across the projects and engineering functions to foster growth and aid the retention of our people

  • Extensive experience in running multi-million complex business operations in the rail signalling industry in a matrix-orientated structure
  • Successfully delivered large rail infrastructure projects while meeting the financial expectations
  • Excellence in performing: Data Analysis, Risk Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Method Application, Process Validations and Capacity Planning
  • Strong customer relationship management at all levels
  • People management skills, including coaching and leadership
  • Excellence in risk & contractual analysis
  • Experience in analysing and developing a market and customer base
  • Experience in change management
