The Area Vice President, Specialty Sales is a field-based national sales management position with the overall responsibility for driving growth within the following areas:  Healthcare Solutions, Informatics, Hematology, Plasma Protein, Syva, and Inside Sales.  The primary responsibility for each team is to maintain and grow existing base business as well as develop new business across product lines. The span of control for this position is 5-6 Managers and it reports to the Head of Laboratory Diagnostics.

This position will be responsible for managing a team of leaders who are protecting and growing our business. This includes strategic selling, project planning through implementation, go-live activities and post implementation customer business reviews.

In this position the candidate will work collaboratively with the field sales and marketing organizations to ensure the customers’ needs and expectations are centered in the overall value proposition.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Strong people management and people development capabilities (Holding people accountable and being able to coach, manage and lead people effectively)
  • 5-10 years’ management of sales force experience in a complex sales environment (Capital equipment, Medical, Devices, etc.)
  • Exceptional ability to forecast, maintain funnel management and the ability to close deals.
  • Education: Minimum of BA/BS degree in medical health sciences (Medical Technology, biology, clinical Chemistry, etc.) or in business or marketing
  • A proven track record in capital sales specific to the laboratory diagnostics industry working with IDN’s and other complex customers. Candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Siemens and competitive laboratory automation and laboratory information technologies.
  • Ability to develop short-term and long-term strategic sales plans and demonstrate critical thinking on how to tailor to our customer solutions
  • Strong business and financial acumen: ability to manage contracts and solutions as a “win-win” for both the customer and Siemens
  • Healthcare industry knowledge on trends and influences for our customer base
  • Knowledge on how the Siemens value proposition supports customers
  • Ability to be collaborative with Siemens Healthineers and provide appropriate levels of influencing to ensure our customers come first
  • Proven track record in a solution-selling environment
  • Experience with CRM tools and the ability to acclimate to a variety of IT tools
  • A minimum of 60% travel is required throughout assigned territory
