Job Description

Working in partnership with the NSW Government, the Parklife Metro consortium is working on an exciting new metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney.

Comprising, Plenary, RATP Dev, Siemens and Webuild, the private sector partners are looking to build their metro rail expertise to deliver this city-shaping project, which will be delivered under a Public Private Partnership model and will provide a major economic stimulus for Western Sydney.

Siemens as a D&C Contractor member will be responsible for the successful delivery of the design and construction elements of the project, and we are currently looking to hire a Financial Controller & Invoicing Assistance, based in our Sydney office.

This is your role. What part will you play?

Reporting into the Commercial Manager / Overall Project Manager, you will ensure adequate monitoring/preparation of the entire payment certificate, approval, invoicing, and payment process according to the relevant rules and guidelines as applied within the project organization. Overall objective is to control and ensure the preparation of milestone payment documentation and timely receipt of due payments.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Manages project finances based on contractual developments and risk situation
  • Supports the overall Project Manager in managing and optimizing targeted financial results with due professional care (e.g., project gross profit, cash flow, assets and financing instruments)
  • Together with the Overall Project Manager ensures the accuracy of the cost and pricing calculation
  • Prepares commercial documentation for regular project status meetings and ensures the accuracy of the commercial project data (FC, MIKA, cash flow).
  • Ensures compliance with Siemens FRG and local GAAP requirements
  • Ensures the accuracy of project books and records, incl. recording of such in appropriate systems, e.g., SAP
  • Ensure proper payment allocation (onshore/offshore/consortium) actively performs asset management
  • Ensures the application and the continuously managing of financial Guarantees, Bonds and project securities
  • Supports the Overall Project Manager in identifying, minimizing non-conformance costs and establishing an appropriate reporting structure; supports the implementation of lessons learned into own project and the organization in general
  • Ensures the compliance with PM @Siemens requirements for commercial aspects, e.g., risk management process

Use your skills to move the world forward

  • Proven experience of Financial Controlling and Reporting in large infrastructure projects, preferably in the rail industry.
  • Business Administration degree (e.g. Finance & Accounting) or successful completion of a commercially based apprenticeship
  • Knowledge of project management principles for project realization and execution
  • Team leadership and mediation skills between teams
