Position Overview:

We seek a Contract Manager to join and support the Rolling Stock business in Sacramento, CA. Ideally, you will know about government procurement and contracts, can negotiate and manage various contract types, and support procurement by advising on, negotiating, and drafting supplier contracts. You will have validated leadership, technical, organizational, and communication skills and have a proven track record. We operate in a highly regulated industry, and familiarity with federal regulations concerning DOT, FRA, and FTA is desirable.

We are responsible for the strategic management of contracts, claims, and disputes that may arise in connection with those contracts. As part of our team, you will provide legal advice during public procurements and contract negotiations and throughout project execution and be able to draft claims, position papers, and other legal documents. The ability to efficiently explain complex legal topics to the business partners and drive potential issues to a consensus decision is essential.

To thrive in this role, you have:
  • Law degree (admitted to practice in California) and significant contract management experience with relevant experience in governmental contracts
  • Attorneys: Minimum of four (4) years of practical work experience in commercial transactions and commercial litigation
  • Non-Attorney Contract Managers: Minimum of eight (8) years of contract management experience in a corporate environment.
  • Excellent legal writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills to participate in negotiations with clients, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors and prepare complex contracts.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality legal documents within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage ongoing assignments
  • Familiarity with regulated industries
What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Analyze, evaluate, and resolve diverse matters with commercial customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Identify and assess the primary contractual risks, opportunities, requirements, and communication of the same.
  • Ensure that all contracts accurately reflect business objectives and align with all state and local laws and regulatory requirements
  • Cooperate with the project management team to define the contract / legal strategy for projects
  • Consult with management and draft official correspondence toward public owners and suppliers/subcontractors in a timely, transparent, and professional manner
  • Monitor contract conditions and events (e.g., duration, consequences, losses), deadlines, landmarks, and contract-related correspondence
  • Identify claim possibilities and communicate along with supporting arguments and documentation.
  • Defend against external claims from clients, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors through the presentation of relevant exonerative facts and documentation
  • Prepare for and participate in claim negotiations, pre-litigation matters, and project management.
  • Conduct legal research and writing; provide ongoing legal support within the territory.

This job is based in Sacramento, CA.    Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees.  Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://www.benefitsquickstart.com/siemens/index.html.  The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA is $102,525 - $170,875 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary.
