Accounting Specialist / Financial Controller

We are recruiting an Accounting Specialist / Financial Controller, for our Financial Governance department as part of the Hub in Lisbon and responsible for more than 12 entities in the region of South West Europe.

You will be integrated in an international, young and dynamic team, with a mission of being accounting topic experts, and the overall goal of supporting and advising the business concerning the accounting treatments applied in their company’s books & records.

What will be your responsibilities?

Perform regular critical reviews of the Balance Sheet of the company.

Perform regular in-depth reviews of selected Service Business, POC and CCM projects, using a risk-based approach. Develop a deep understanding of the underlying business and the risks resulting for the Books & Records. Challenge the project commercials on their assumptions, ensuring a true and fair view in the project accounting. Monitor and analyze all business related accruals and provisions.

Advise the business on accounting and system related questions pertaining to revenue recognition and business-related topics. Perform trainings on demand. Drive the implementation of new accounting standards and the enhancement and harmonization of the accounting systems. Assist in special projects like M&A transactions, advise the business on accounting questions and perform the necessary analyses and booking entries.

Perform month end closing activities and reporting controls to ensure accurate and on time reporting to the head quarter for consolidation purposes. Monitor the overall closing process and identify systematic issues and opportunities for improvement using newest technologies and digitalization processes. Perform and develop regular controls and analysis using standard reports and promote digitalization opportunities in its development and creation.

 Coordinate all external and internal audits. Interact with Management and staff of internal service providers and other Corporate Departments to ensure smooth and error-free process flows.

What do you need to qualify for this job?

Understanding of general accounting principles, external (IFRS) accounting standards to be able to understand and apply Siemens internal financial guidelines.

Practical experience in project accounting and controlling developed in successful experience as auditor / consultant / project commercial / controller.

Therefore, you should have:

• Degree in Business Administration, Accounting & Finance or similar; 

• Fluent in English;

• Experience acquired in auditing environment or multinational companies of 2/3 years; 

• Good knowledge of system SAP (not mandatory); 

• Good Excel knowledge & capabilities;

• Strong critical thinking, problem solving and efficient communication skills, as well as initiative and proactiveness in using new tools and processes especially in the digitalization area (RPA, Power BI, etc.)

• Ability to work under pressure, on a changing environment.
