Senior Commercial Lawyer

Job Description

Siemens – We’ve got a lot to offer. How about you?

Siemens Mobility is pioneering the future of travel. Our purpose is reinventing, refining and revolutionising how people move throughout smarter urban environments and across a more sustainable world. From advanced engineering projects to pushing limits of data and machine learning, we’re changing the global landscape.

At Siemens, we’ve introduced the #newnormal where we’re encouraged to work flexibly. It’s up to you to decide what you’re going to achieve, where and how – unlocking your full potential with our unconditional support. Because, as our colleagues will tell you, if there’s anything Siemens is as forward-thinking about as technology, it’s your wellbeing. It’s being agile, understanding you and giving you all you need to thrive.

We are looking for a qualified lawyer to join the Siemens Mobility UK legal team. We are a small, friendly team, based out of our new offices at The Lantern, London. You will primarily be responsible for advising the Rail Infrastructure business, working on projects such as the Elizabeth Line or High Speed Two. You will need to be confident working both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams with business colleagues.

The work is interesting and varied. One day you may be advising on a strategic bid to a key customer and the next day training the business or responding to an industry-wide consultation. Many of the contracts are based on industry standard terms, so experience of those would be an advantage, but is not essential.

What do you need to qualify for this job

  • English qualified lawyer with demonstrable post qualification experience gained in either private practice with a well-respected law firm or in-house at a blue-chip corporate or qualified lawyer in another jurisdiction with demonstrable experience in advising on English law topics
  • A flexible attitude and a proven ability to multi-task
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deal confidently and build strong relationships with senior business colleagues
  • Ability to build relationships within international Siemens Legal community
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to negotiate terms with customers and suppliers
  • Clear understanding of commercial context
  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluent English
