“We make real what matters”
Within our department we are executing projects for energy distribution systems in the international datacenter market. For example, for the delivery of standard Siemens components for the Mid-voltage and the Low voltage grid in the datacenters as for modular systems like skids or E-houses (see: https://new.siemens.com/global/en/products/energy/medium-voltage/solutions/e-house.html)
As an intern you will be part of the E-House/Skids team which exist of approximately 15 engineers with different technical and cultural backgrounds.
“What does this role feel like?”
We have different areas of interest to choose from:
Batteries: Our systems can be equipped with an UPS system in which batteries are used for the storage of the energy. At this moment there are a lot of innovations in this area and we are looking for an in-depth research on future battery technologies and their possible fit for our projects.
Climate control & simulation: It is well known that all electrical equipment generates heat, there for climate control of an E-house is most important. We want to get a better understanding of the heat pattern and flows in the E-house (simulation) and also an optimization of the design and the use of equipment (type of A /C, air ducting, etc.).
Green E-House: We would like to investigate the use of PV panels for our E-houses. In this research you’ll be looking at the type of panels and convertor, the installation, the thermal effects and the electrical load balancing.
