Using your expertise, you will be responsible for:

As a Senior Customs Professional, you will be a part of Tax & Customs team of Siemens Ltd. Seoul (responsible for Businesses support and governance of Siemens Korea region companies). You will be working with 4 Customs professionals and reporting to Customs Manager.

Daily Customs Operation

- Perform daily customs declaration using Siemens Customs Tool upon clearance request of Business via communication with external customs broker

- Documentary and regulatory review to comply customs requirements – customs valuation, HS classification, foreign exchange regulations, import licensing, special trade conditions (repair and return, temporary import/export, FTA preferential tariff treatment), etc.

- Journal entry posting for Customs expenses (import duty and VAT payment, duty refund, customs brokerage expenses, etc.)

- Periodic monitoring of customs declaration records to seek opportunity of customs duty refund or saving (such as HS reclassification, post FTA application), catch potential risk areas and set-up remedial actions

- Define and identify areas for process optimization via process renovation, automation, digitalization

Customs Governance

- Provide advisory to Business inquiries, support in global/local projects – new Business structure set-up, M&As (carve-out/in projects), customs audit defense, etc.

- Publication of working manuals, training materials, standard operational procedures

- Provide training to Business and relevant stakeholders to update on new customs law amendment, change of customs operational processes

What you need to make real what matters.

- Minimum 5 years+ experience in the trade and customs compliance, customs brokerage, Big4 consulting or related fields in the big MNEs

- Bachelor’s degree in international trade, business administration, or similar

- License or certificate holder preferred – customs broker, foreign exchange specialist, etc.

- Fluent in Korean and English writing and speaking

- Proficient in MS Office, intelligence in SAP

- Strong knowledge of customs & tax laws both local and global (Korea Customs Act, VAT Act, WTO Customs Valuation, OECD BEPS-TP Guideline, etc.)

- Ability to interpretate financial statements, analyze data to draw out meaningful information

- Ability to work proactively and effectively in fast-phased and challenging environment

- Strong inter-personal skills to communicate well to meet needs of relevant stakeholders within and outside team, especially Business counterparties

- Creative thinker who understands the wider business impact of finance and view different angles to create new innovative ideas for operational optimization

- Works with open-mind, ownership, integrity, growth mindset, digital mindset
