Quality Engineer - Traction Drives

Position Overview

In this role, you will drive the prevention and reduction of product nonconformities and support improvement of our processes working with all functional departments. This will help us to consistently provide products that meet customer requirements, control costs, and meet internal objectives.  

Responsibilities

  • Lead the corrective action process using structured problem-solving methods with cross functional teams to address customer complaints, warranty claims and internal nonconformities. Prepare detailed corrective action reports.
  • Support nonconforming product activities in a manufacturing environment. This includes quality holds, containment, identification, segregation, traceability, investigations, communication, and problem solving. Communicate with technical experts to resolve complex problems.
  • Support new product introductions by preparing PFMEA’s, control plans, participating in First Article Inspections, and implementing control methods in manufacturing.
  • Prepare and present quality metric reports that include analysis and subsequent corrective and preventive action.
  • Lead process and product quality audits to ISO 9001 and IRIS standards, report results and facilitate corrective action. Support the oversight of the QMS processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to improve and optimize processes. Create and improve quality procedures.
  • Identify training needs/deficiencies affecting quality within the organization. Support and train others on quality concepts, systems, control methods and problem-solving tools.
  •   5%-15% yearly possible

Required Experience/ Skills/ Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering strongly preferred OR Associates Degree in Engineering with five (5) years of experience in a quality engineer role.
  • 2 years of experience in quality engineering.
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience with knowledge of department functions and processes. Experience with electro-mechanical assembly processes is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in leading corrective/ preventive action cross functional teams using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Experience in preparing PFMEA’s
  • Experience in customer complaint handling
  • 2 years of experience in conducting internal quality audits to ISO 9001 standard
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
