Project Manager Internship- Rolling Stock

Job Description

Siemens Mobility US is looking for aspiring project managers to come aboard for a 10–12-week internship journey where they will get exposure to what happens behind the scenes to make the rail world go round.   

As our Project Management Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience on project management processes such as planning, project specifications, progress monitoring, risk management and building customer relationships.

A little bit about us  

Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.   

Our Project Management team interfaces with other internal departments to drive and monitor progress for vehicle projects, ensures project schedule and specification are met and represents the project towards the customer. Our Project Managers are managing the technical complexities in close cooperation with Engineering for the vehicle design and with Operations for the construction of the vehicles.  

What you will be doing:  

As our Project Management Intern, you will support a Project Manager in one of our existing projects and gain experience in the industrial processes necessary to create complex products in small quantity production. 

Support a Project Manager in one of our vehicle projects domestically  

At times interface with our Headquarters in Germany.  

Work autonomously in a project team on small work packages.  

Attend internal and external meetings for the project 

Work with our Project Managers and Engineers in both the US and Europe on activities such as: customer correspondence, documentation, production, commissioning and certification topics as well as on design and engineering topics. 

Basic Qualifications:    

Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering or other  

      technical related field from an accredited college or university, with at least 1-2   

                        years completed to date.  

Legal authorization to work in the US is required  

Must reside or go to school near internship location  

Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs is required.  

Documentation Management System knowledge and previous project  

      management skills are a plus. 

 Preferred Qualifications  

Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0  

Previous internship experience or relevant school projects  

Strong communication skills – verbal and written  

Ability to work on a team
