We're looking for a Head of Technical Development to lead a team of test analysts and developers whilst supporting the planning, estimating and execution of our programmes of systems development work.

What part will you play?
This exciting role covers a variety of responsibilities including:
- Leading the definition, implementation and review of the organisation’s systems development management framework
- Authorising the structure of systems development functions and platforms and is responsible for alignment with business strategy & objectives and with emerging IT and digital opportunities
- Setting the strategy for resource management and authorises the allocation of resources for systems development programmes, and maintains an overview of the contribution of such programmes to organisational success
- Setting the policy and driving alignment to projects, with either predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches
- Promoting the benefits of addressing all security issues during systems development. Identifying and handling resources for all stages (planning, estimation, execution) of systems development projects, ensuring that technical, financial and quality targets are met.
- Managing career paths, 1:1’s and growth plans of the Development team.
- Building a hard-working, well-optimised development team utilising modern development methodologies, technologies and tooling.
- Leading a cloud-first, scalable technical transformation using the AWS cloud platform.
- Leading and promoting a DevOps culture of CI/CD pipeline development and its associated tooling, integrating closely between Development and the IT Ops teams.
What does it take to be successful in this role?
We're seeking a technical leader, with extensive experience in IT and software development. Someone with a good understanding of cloud technology who is able to work in an agile methodology. It's great if you already have knowledge/experience in the Utilities industry but this is not vital!
