With around 2,400 employees, the central Technology (T) department, together with the business units, secures the future of the Siemens Group. T conducts research on future technologies with internal and external partners such as universities and research institutes. The core of the work is the transfer of research results into current and future product developments via prototypical realization and technology consulting for the software development departments of various business units of Siemens AG and its subsidiaries.

- You will work with our partners in international research projects and help craft them in terms of content and strategy for future industrial applications.
- You define technical consulting projects in the area of software development and architecture design with a focus on distributed systems (edge computing, distributed computing, middleware, etc.) for in-house customers.
- You evaluate and use new technologies, bring in your ideas, implement them and evaluate them in an industrial context.
- You design and develop tools and software components, possibly also as open source.
- You will implement prototypes and proofs of concept in order to make new insights and technologies tangible for us and our customers.
- You analyze, migrate, and optimize existing software and software components.

- You have a PhD or MSc in computer science or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in various programming languages (e.g. TypeScript, Go, Swift, Java, C++, Python, ...).
- Profound understanding and use open source tools and libraries.
- You have atleast 3+ years of experience in professional software development.
- You have in-depth knowledge of distributed systems, software architecture and software development, preferably Internet of Things, Edge and/or Cloud Computing.
- You have advanced knowledge of communication technologies and basic knowledge of AI and machine learning.
- Ideally, you have contributed to research and development in the areas of IoT, Middleware, Edge/Cloud Computing, software architecture or in related areas.
- You have excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
- Very good knowledge of German and English round off your profile.
