Logistics Internship- Traction Drives

Job Description

Siemens Mobility US is looking for an aspiring Logistics and Manufacturing Engineer to come aboard for a 10–12-week internship journey where they will get exposure to what happens behind the scenes to make the rail world go round.  


During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Logistics and Manufacturing teams where you will learn how to perform tasks within the logistics department with activities and tasks related to manufacturing engineering and supply chain.

A little bit about us 

Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.  


How does Logistics plays into the big picture? 

The logistics team plays a crucial role in our organization, ensuring that material is available for the production of traction drive systems for Heavy and Light Rail transportation vehicles. The products manufactured at our Alpharetta, GA. factory are shipped to our locomotive and car manufacturing facility for integration into the final product.  

What you will do…  

Participate and/or facilitate with problem solving or improvement activities 

Development and documentation of new processes and procedures 

Collection and analysis of material data for purchasing optimization 

Communicate effectively with personnel, as the job requires, in a professional manner that facilitates teamwork

Understanding of basic lean manufacturing concepts, process flow, bill of materials, materials management, and interest to learn more 

 

Basic Qualifications:  

Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or similar from an accredited college or university 

Legal authorization to work in the US is required 

Must reside or go to school near internship location (Alpharetta) 

Preferred Qualifications 

Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 

Previous internship experience or relevant school projects 

Strong communication skills – verbal and written 

Ability to work on a team 

Interest in learning about the rail industry – project management, customer service operations, manufacturing, etc.
