Baseline Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled as a university undergraduate student
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Preferred graduation year of 2023 or 2024
  • Able to work onsite in Fremont, CA minimum 1 day a week or able to relocate to Fremont, CA without relocation assistance; open to remote for 1 intern

FPGA Prototyping Intern

We are seeking a motivated FPGA Prototyping Intern for Siemens Digital Industries Software. The Siemens Digital Industries Software portfolio enables customers to build a comprehensive digital twin, which blurs the boundaries between virtual and physical, hardware and software, as well as design and manufacturing worlds.
This position is for Siemens EDA the leading provider of electronic design automation software that allows customers to develop most cost-effective electronics systems, components and products. The Siemens EDA product portfolio includes an array of world-class solutions that enable faster time-to-market and increased flexibility for semiconductor companies to realize innovation with first silicon success targeted for Cloud, mobile, HPC and mission critical applications.
We seek a driven individual with a foundation in digital design and verification. Come and gain practical hands-on experience with high quality EDA products while setting yourself up with knowledge for a potential full-time role after graduation. You will be part of the team developing and supporting FPGA prototyping solutions, one of the fastest growing segments of digital verification and system validation.
This internship can be a steppingstone into digital design and verification, system validation or product engineering. Verification is the functional verification of digital designs, written at the register transfer level (RTL) in Verilog, System Verilog or VHDL. Validation is the validation of same design at the system level which may include high level testbenches, software drivers or application-level software. The biggest chip designers and most agile startups are using FPGA based prototyping for both verification and validation. As a product engineering intern for the Siemens Veloce Prototyping System you will gain valuable experience and insider knowledge of this cutting-edge technology. You will also gain experiences beyond the deep technical knowledge as a product engineer you have an opportunity to practice those soft skills every employer is looking for. As a product engineer you will be teaching others how to use this industry leading technology.
As a product engineering intern, you will learn about the prototyping systems and their architecture, create online documentation to describe the configuration along with online scheduling tools for these resources. Responsibilities will also include understanding in detail the grid distributed compute environment for which you will be creating a use model and documentation which can be utilized by the FPGA prototyping team.
We are looking for an applicant who is just is as excited about the opportunity to share knowledge as they are to gain it.
Organization Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree at an accredited university with a background in electrical engineering or computer engineering
  • Understanding of RTL design of integrated circuits and their verification methodologies is a strong plus
  • Understanding of FPGA technologies is a strong plus
  • Basic user knowledge of the Linux OS
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with high attention to detail
  • Good time management, planning and organization skills
  • Commanding grasp of Microsoft office tools

The hourly range for this position is $22.00 - $52.00 per hour. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees.
