Principal Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are currently looking for a dedicated and well organised technical leader, with a passion for delivering new products in a dynamic environment to join our Siemens Mobility MRX team. As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible in leading the current and future technology innovations from Siemens products within the Hardware Engineering Team. You will also have an outstanding technical knowledge, understanding how customer industries evolve. Additionally, you are a key part of the Engineering Team, where you are collaborating with others to design and find product solutions through the whole PLM lifecycle. This is a unique opportunity where you can make a positive difference to a team of dedicated engineers.

This is your role, what part will you play?

  • Ensure that the team develops detailed solutions with the required functionality
  • Help guide research into future system development
  • Review and approve drawings, documents, designs and manufacture orders
  • Assist with Team planning and allocation
  • Help develop the team, professional development, and goal setting
  • You will report to the Head of Hardware Engineering, and work alongside a hard-working and multi-disciplinary team
Skills to have
  • You have tertiary/relevant education in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • You have ideally 10+ years’ experience in a product design environment, including time working in a multi-discipline team
  • Experience with current manufacturing technologies, such as sheet metal, fabrication and machining
  • Understand and apply mechanical theories and the application of mechanical calculations
  • Knowledge of physical testing: shock, vibration, IP, thermal
  • Organise and lead collaborative reviews around risk, concept, design etc
  • Ability to generate concepts, ideas and valuation from clean sheet of paper
  • Ability to context switching and handle multiple work streams
  • Excellent communication skills, able to discuss a wide range of topics with all members of the organisation
