We are looking for a Training and Development Specialist. You will be working primarily on external qualifications delivered by Siemens Mobility Education and Skills and within the Competence, Assessment and Verification professional group to conduct individual and group training courses and assessment that lead to external qualifications. You will monitor the effectiveness of course materials, review feedback, and modify/revise course materials as instructed.
The successful Training and Development Specialist will also complete the development of new course material. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the standards and qualifications delivered, ensuring they are implemented in any delivery. Also, support the Business Partner - Training, when required, with Summary Assessments for the Rolling Stock/ Customer Services staff.
What are my responsibilities?
- Delivery of the defined training courses to a high standard an in accordance with any awarding body requirements if applicable.
- Review course contents to ensure that they remain up to date and in line with the latest standards
- Development of courses on business request to expand current trainer port
- Use feedback from candidates and customers to review and
develop course content when appropriate. - Using knowledge and understanding of diversity and its
impact to develop materials and organise training
accordingly. - Maintain personal competence to ensure the delivery of
training is at the best practice standard and utilising current
training techniques. - Maintain an up to date and accurate CPD log.
- Assist when required, in support of Business Partner-Training, with route to competence and Summary Assessments in Rolling Stock/ Customer Services.
- Attend and engage in all standardisation events.
- Review Apprentice portfolio via One File to ensure evidence meets the criteri
- Ensure timely completion of the assigned learners.
- Carry out observations in the workplace on the assigned learners.
- Distribute and monitor assignments relating to external qualifications.
- Carry out marking of any associated assignments within specified timescales and to the required standard.
- Carry out IQA work as and when required.
- Collaborate with both internal and external customers including the awarding bodies where appropriate.
- Implement safe systems and controls within your area of responsibility Understand, implement and follow the Siemens EHS policies.
- Communicate health and safety responsibilities to your team (or virtual team) and ensure employees raise issues and participate in implementation of agreed changes.
- Fully participate and engage in Siemens behavioural safety agenda to ensure you and your team work safely.
- Engage with EHS team to agree targets and priorities to communicate and cascade to team. Take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions that may have an environmental impact.
- Accept personal responsibility to take care of ourselves and any others affected by one’s own acts or omissions
- Actively participate in our 3is improvement programme and drive implementation of improvements from the team.
- Continuously develop cross functional and departmental processes.
- Monitor compliance to meet internal control procedures and take appropriate corrective action.
- Ensure awareness and understanding of Siemens compliance policies and ‘Tell Us’ ethos. Implement in areas of responsibility.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
Essential:
- Trainer and assessor qualifications (NVQ Level 4 preferred)
- Technical knowledge of vehicle engineering maintenance procedures/practices
- Engineering ONC or equivalent qualification
- Good understanding of education standards
- Good knowledge of IT systems/software
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Strong organisation/planning skills
Preferred:
- IQA Qualification
- Rolling Stock technical knowledge
- Good understanding of diversity and its impact on training
Understanding of functional skills delivery
