This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career. As a Machine Learning Intern, you will be responsible for:
- Working on advanced Machine Learning projects related to the fields of Data Science and Clinical Decision Support.
- Performing data transformations and exploratory data analysis, train Machine Learning models based on real data, and develop and deploy reusable analytical models for use in Lab Diagnostics products and/or to support the Lab Diagnostics business line.
- Contributing to an effort to provide advanced Clinical Decision Support. The objective of the project is to predict the likelihood of increased health risk, as well as specific diagnoses, e.g., rare diseases with a low prevalence in the population based on blood test results.
- Using real patient data, including health biomarkers and assay test results, you will use Machine Learning to build, train, test, and deploy reusable models for intended use on Atellica middleware.
- Independently developing and testing prototypes in an industrial healthcare environment, validate and communicate results to answer business-relevant questions.

- Technical basis and interest in growing knowledge of technologies, algorithms and methodologies in the areas of Machine Learning and big data.
- Strong Python programming skills necessary.
- PySpark and Machine Learning library experience optional.
- Databricks or similar platform experience optional.
- Comfortable with creation and analysis of complex models to support effective decision making.
- Motivation to develop strong presentation and communication skills to present technical and business-relevant insights at different levels of the organization.
- Willingness to work in a cross-functional team to enhance the Machine Learning and analytical aspects of our Lab Diagnostics business line.
Required skills to have for the success of this role:
- Preferred 3.0 GPA
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related discipline
- Experience in Machine Learning and strong interest in advancing your skills in this field
- Strong Python programming skills necessary.
