As a Principal Customer Training Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of training delivery and training content development for Siemens EDA’s logic design verification and emulation software tools and solutions. This role requires a strong working knowledge and readiness to take on responsibilities and deliver results.

Training will be delivered in three formats: live in-person and online classes, and self-paced training. Most in-person classes are held at customer sites. You will work with customer representatives, the account teams, and the learning services operations team to scope out the class requirements and schedule training events.

You will also work with your colleagues in the training team, customers, sales, product division, and support teams to determine enhancements to existing course material and identify new courses for development. Based on this guidance, you will plan and lead the creation of training materials for all delivery methods. These courses will be presented not only by you but also by other instructors worldwide. The training content includes lecture materials and self-paced training videos, hands-on labs, and assessments to reinforce learning.

The primary objective of this position is to develop and deliver high-quality training that deepens customer knowledge, strengthens their practical skills, and drives Siemens EDA product adoption and their optimal utilization at customer sites.

Essential Duties

Training Delivery:

  • Be prepared and knowledgeable in the subject matter, the tools, and the training materials.
  • Answer student questions professionally, and as needed, note the question, ask the product or support group, and get the answer back to the student promptly.
  • Report any items that need action generated during the training event to the product group, support, sales, and Learning Services.
  • Drive the collection of student class surveys, review the feedback provided in surveys or via other means, and take appropriate action to improve the class materials and your performance as an instructor continually.

Training Development:

  • Update training materials based on the product release schedules.
  • Lead efforts to develop curriculum plans for creating new classes and maintaining existing courses in collaboration with the product, field, and learning services teams.  Get buy-in from all involved for these plans.
  • Utilize standard templates and processes (Microsoft software, Camtasia, AI-powered processes, etc.) to create high-quality training materials.
  • Hold dry-run and review sessions for new classes to gather feedback for improvements and implement the improvements.
  • Get involved in the specification and review of materials developed by colleagues.
  • Work with the training operations team to release the training classes
  • Mentor junior members of the team
  • Participate in activities such as writing blogs to promote new training offerings.

Continuous Learning and Development:

  • Continue to broaden and deepen your knowledge and skills on additional methodologies, tools, and new features in your technical expertise area
  • Attend company technical training conducted by the product division to stay technically current
  • Identify and participate in opportunities to improve your presentation and teaching skills continually
  • Work with the field, product, and support teams to learn more about the tools and how they are used at customer sites.

Relationships:

  • Develop strong cross-functional relationships with the product, support, sales, and other related teams across the company.

Education and Experience:

  • BSEE or MSEE required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences through various channels.
  • Experience using and a strong working knowledge of HDLs such as SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, and advanced verification methodologies such as UVM is a requirement
  • Experience using and understanding Emulation technology is a strong plus, with the requirement of becoming proficient in this technology to be able to develop training content and lead customer training classes
  • Experience using scripting languages (Tcl. Python, Linux shell scripting, etc.) is a requirement
  • Experience using and working knowledge of Linux, C and C++ is a requirement.
  • Experience using and working knowledge of formal verification methodology and tools is a plus
  • Experience with Functional Safety standards and tools is a plus
  • Experience developing and/or delivering technical presentations and training material is a strong plus. This includes creating labs, videos, quizzes, and exams.


Specialized knowledge and skills

  • Prior experience with Siemens EDA design verification products and solutions (QuestaSim, Visualizer, Veloce Emulation, Verification IPs, Formal verification, Functional Safety) is a plus.
  • The ability to determine the suitability of training materials based on learner skill level and learning style is required.
  • Must have strong presentation and teaching skills, ideally in a technical setting.
  • Must have the skills to distill complicated subject matter into a customer-focused training session. The candidate must also have excellent customer-focused writing and editing skills.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment and work collaboratively on a team
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to multiple conflicting priorities, manage changing priorities, and respond appropriately to unexpected changes.
  • Must possess time management, communication, interpersonal, verbal, listening, problem-solving, troubleshooting, decision-making, and organizational skills. 
  • Must participate in collaborative discussions and contribute to clarifying situations while remaining open to all sides, staying focused on resolution, and developing others on the team.
  • Ability to seek new growth opportunities and to learn new products, solutions, and develop/deliver new training content.

Location and Travel

  • US Citizenship is a requirement
  • Position is located in the USA (Remote)
  • Up to 40% travel per year (includes international travel)

The pay range for this position is $146,700 - $293,400 annually with a target incentive of 20% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
