Siemens Digital Industries Software (SW) helps organizations of all sizes digitally transform using software, hardware and services from the Siemens Xcelerator business platform. Siemens' software and the comprehensive digital twin enable companies to optimize their design, engineering and manufacturing processes to turn today's ideas into the sustainable products of the future. From chips to entire systems, from product to process, across all industries, we accelerate transformation. Siemens Digital Industries Software is one of five business units of Siemens Digital Industries (DI), a leading innovator in automation and digitalization. The other four businesses are Factory Automation, Process Automation, Motion Control and Customer Services.

Start your career with the Strategic Student Program (SSP)

The Strategic Student Program is our formal internship program globally. You will be mentored by guides and again invaluable professional experience. At Siemens, SSP interns get access to an international student network and community, career development opportunities with professional growth pathways, comprehensive practical training throughout the program, access to the Siemens Learning Hub and other training materials, and the opportunity to collaborate on exciting projects within a global, diverse team.

Internship topic: Structuring and Implementing Different Levels of Chemical Reactions.

What you’ll be doing

You will work within the "AeroSpace, Defense and Marine" team, which is responsible for the development and maintenance of libraries enabling modeling and simulation in the aerospace, space, and defense domains within Simcenter Amesim.

As part of the unification efforts for fluid libraries, the objective of this internship is to propose and implement a common, robust C-based structure for defining and representing chemical reactions. Several levels of complexity will need to be covered:

  • "Simplified" combustion: a single complete reaction
  • Kinetic scheme with catalytic reaction (adsorption/desorption)
  • Tabulated combustion

The goal of the internship is to achieve an advanced C structure prototype and demonstrate its integration within the context of a simulation model. To validate the structure and equations implemented, you will be required to create a sub-model of a combustion chamber or a reformer.

Beyond the main C structure, a Python tool for parameterizing the equations may also be developed.

This 6-month internship is based in Lyon (69), France and is available from January 2026.

All about you!

You are pursuing higher education in engineering (BAC+5) in France.

  • You have a strong understanding of combustion/chemical reactions.
  • You have experience using modeling/simulation tools (ideally Simcenter Amesim).
  • You have shown strengths in programming (ie. C and/or Python), which is useful for implementing physical models and developing simulation solutions.
  • You are capable of working autonomously and collaboratively with mentors.
  • Your interpersonal skills and communication abilities, especially in English, allow you to establish effective collaboration within the team. French would be a plus.
