About the Role

As the Head of Global Construction, you will assume a pivotal leadership role coordinating Siemens’ worldwide portfolio of large-scale construction initiatives. You will shape and deliver complex industrial projects from inception to completion, building on Siemens' reputation for operational excellence and innovation. In this position, you will lead an international team, drive strategic decisions, and proactively promote digitalization and sustainability, ensuring that all projects align with both business objectives and innovative standards.

Area of responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for the global portfolio of construction projects – including new builds and major redevelopments at industrial sites, particularly production facilities for Siemens’ business units.
  • You lead an international team of around 30 project managers and construction experts.
  • You oversee projects end-to-end – from initial feasibility studies to final acceptance.
  • Throughout the entire project lifecycle, you coach and guide your project managers, ensuring smooth execution in terms of cost, schedule, and quality – with 100% target achievement as the benchmark.
  • You work closely with internal clients, understand their business requirements, and translate these into technical solutions.
  • You also challenge requirements where appropriate and develop economically sound alternatives that sustainably support business success.
  • Together with your team, you prepare decision-ready investment proposals for various Siemens decision-making bodies (Siemens Real Estate, Siemens business units, and – depending on the investment volume – the Siemens Managing Board).
  • You proactively identify risks, communicate them early, and initiate suitable mitigation measures.
  • You drive the standardization of processes, methods, and tools for efficient project execution.
  • You actively advance digitalization and sustainability in construction – for example, by identifying and integrating new technologies and materials.

Your Profile:

  • Education
    • You hold a university degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, or construction management.
  • Experience & Skills
    • You have many years of professional experience in construction project management – ideally with a focus on industrial facilities.
    • You have international leadership experience in multicultural project organizations.
    • You possess solid knowledge of construction and planning regulations – both nationally and internationally.
    • With your confident presence at top management level and your strong communication skills, you build trust and influence decision-making processes.
  • Ways of working
    • You stand out through strong business sense, particularly in investment planning and contract management.
    • You demonstrate the ability to successfully manage multiple complex projects across all phases.
    • You question the status quo, identify improvement potential, and ensure that the department proactively adapts to changing conditions.
  • Language Skills and Willingness to Travel
    • Strong English skills and good German skills complete your profile.
    • You are willing to travel internationally, roughly 50%.
