Position Overview

The primary purpose of the FPGA Prototyping Field Application Engineer position is to deliver technical expertise for FPGA prototyping to drive technical wins, adoption and expansion of our prototyping solution. It provides support for both pre-sale and post-sales assessment of customer needs as well as quick implementation/execution of the solution. The Field Application Engineer 4 leads pre-sales customer engagements and acts as the primary technical resource for a set of key accounts. They develop and manage relationships with multiple levels of management within customer businesses, evaluate and provide input on customer technical needs and opportunities, collaborate with sales teams to develop and implement mutually beneficial sales campaigns for Siemens EDA and our customers, and manage execution of technical initiatives and campaigns to drive long-term growth. They are a trusted advisor to customers and a core mentor and trainer to other Field AEs.

Job Responsibilities

Builds and manages relationships with multiple levels of management within customer businesses.
Develops and facilitates technical presentations to convey the benefits of prototyping technology to prospective customers. Positions cross-platform solutions adjacent to primary focus area; identifies and connects prospects with appropriate specialists.
Listens actively internally and with customers and translates this into intelligence for sales campaigns and competitive analysis. Identifies customer discontinuities – demand, QoR, competitive. Uncovers technical and business requirements, qualifies new opportunities and the technical viability of a lead, and establishes success criteria for technical engagements. Completes visit reports on meaningful interactions with customer.
Partners closely with Account Technology Managers, Technical Account Managers, and/or Account Managers within the region to align on technical challenges and opportunities and collaborate on execution plan.
Proactively shares account information, evaluation results, competitive information, technology challenges with sales teams, management, and R&D. Collaborates with R&D and Product Engineering organizations as a trusted advisor to the customer.
Provides technical leadership on all aspects of a sales campaign with the aim of contributing to account/area technical business plans; includes coordinating all available resourcing across Division, Support, and Services.
Leverages SEDA positioning and reference data to negotiate for an advantageous evaluation.
Drives products into customer projects by creating methodology and flows; may include infrastructure and integration into a customer’s environment and execution of pilot projects.
Provides input to Account Manager on correct license mix and ratios. 
Executes deployment plan, including anticipating and resolving obstacles to deployment and driving enhancement projects. Increases value to the customer by optimizing flows and deploying cross-functional solutions.
Enables customer advocates to drive standardization.
Responds when customers encounter issues and connects with RnD, where appropriate. Secures business run-rate through customer satisfaction.
Serves as a core mentor and trainer to other Field AEs. Leads team mentorship process.
Completes product and/or sales training, ensuring the most up-to-date and relevant knowledge of Siemens solutions and go-to-market strategies.


Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience 

Bachelor’s degree and related experience; or an advanced degree and equivalent work experience.
Deep expertise in core functionality of FPGA prototyping and practical advice on technical integration.
Ability to deploy Siemens EDA products related to FPGA prototyping and drive adoption.
Capable of creating extensions to support customer or team needs, such as scripts or API extensions.
Knowledgeable about FPGA prototyping competitive tools and environments, and skilled in demonstrating this information for sales and technical advantage.
Able to understand customer project scopes and timelines, customize technical training, and provide efficient solutions while considering existing customer flows.
Willing to travel to drive business engagements as required
Ability to work in a fast paced, results oriented, team environment
Positive attitude and good communication skills
Energetic and self-motivated
