We are currently recruiting for an experienced and highly skilled Materials Controller to plan, schedule and monitor the ordering of materials through the production cycle; prioritising schedules, customer orders or requisitions to determine items to be procured.

They will also communicate with purchasing regarding shipping requirements, compile and maintain records, and provide inventory control and order book management for the Rail Systems service business.

Please note that this role is based in Goole (hybrid).

You’ll make an impact by

  • Managing the warranty returns process, ensuring timely coordination with fleets and effective resolution of ongoing claims.
  • Prioritising and delivering replenishment and repairable parts, maintaining optimal inventory levels and supporting unplanned requirements.
  • Ensuring smooth operational processes across the supply chain, continuously improving workflows and maintaining strong compliance with internal controls.
  • Overseeing materials planning and forecasting, working closely with fleets and inventory specialists to optimise stock levels.
  • Building strong internal and external customer relationships, supporting current needs while identifying future opportunities for collaboration.
  • Promoting a safe working environment, implementing HSQE standards, engaging teams in safe behaviours, and taking responsibility for environmental impact.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives, actively participating in improvement programmes and championing quality, compliance, and cross-functional efficiency.

Your success will be grounded by

  • A sound knowledge of best practice procurement and buying processes
  • Experienced in stock control and inventory management
  • Detailed knowledge of materials, stores management procedures and warranty processes
  • Good knowledge of IT systems / software
  • Good organisational skills
  • CIPS Professional diploma in Procurement and Supply
  • People Management skills
