About J2 Innovations

J2 Innovations is a leading provider of software platforms for smart buildings, best known for the FIN Framework—an open, scalable, and software-centric BMS used globally by OEMs, system integrators, and enterprise customers.

Our mission is to modernize building automation, bridging traditional HVAC control with IT, data, analytics, and cloud technologies. We work with a global ecosystem of partners across Americas, EMEA, and APAC, delivering next-generation Edge and Cloud BMS solutions.

We are looking for a Senior BMS / Application Engineer with strong experience in building automation and HVAC systems, and a passion for software-driven BMS platforms.

In addition to project and solution support, this role has a key responsibility for technical training and enablement on FIN Framework, acting as a technical ambassador and educator for the platform.

This is a remote role located in Florida.

As a Senior BMS / Application Engineer at J2 Innovations, you will:

  • Work directly with OEM partners, system integrators, and enterprise customers to:
  • Design and validate BMS architectures
  • Configure and commission FIN-based systems
  • Integrate HVAC equipment and third-party systems
  • Support global projects across Americas and Europe, with regular travel (30–40%)

Apply deep knowledge of:

  • HVAC systems and control strategies
  • Open protocols such as BACnet and Modbus
  • Software-centric BMS concepts (edge, data, APIs)
  • Training & enablement responsibilities
  • Deliver technical training on FIN Framework to:
  • System integrators and OEM partners
  • Customers and internal teams

Conduct:

  • Classroom and virtual training sessions
  • Hands-on workshops and labs
  • Advanced technical deep dives for experienced partners
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of:
  • Training materials
  • Technical documentation
  • Best-practice guidelines and reference architectures
  • Act as a technical reference and mentor for partners and internal engineers adopting FIN Framework

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Sales and Business Development during opportunity qualification
    • Product Management and R&D, providing structured feedback from the field and from training sessions
    • Professional Services and Support teams to ensure successful customer onboarding and project delivery
  • Capture insights from training and field activities to help shape:
  • Product roadmap priorities
  • Partner enablement strategies
  • Go-to-market execution

You'll make an impact with these qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the BMS / HVAC controls industry
  • Previous experience with a BMS manufacturer, OEM, or system integrator
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of:
    • HVAC systems (AHUs, chillers, heat pumps, VAVs, fan coils, etc.)
    • Control strategies and sequences of operation
    • BMS commissioning and application engineering
  • Must be able to demonstrate that you:
    • Are hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented
    • Are comfortable acting as both engineer and trainer
    • Have strong presentation and communication skills
    • Are able to bridge field reality with software platform capabilities
    • Are self-driven, proactive, and collaborative in a global environment
