Role Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineering Team Lead to join our Application Support team and drive excellence in Control, Protection, and Automation solutions. This role involves leading a team of Application Support engineers, ensuring compliance with customer and system requirements, driving and leading System Configurations, Solution validation and providing end-to-end technical support across multiple phases – from requirement gathering to post-sales execution. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for innovation in Power Automation.

Key Responsibilities


  1. Define and finalize common protection and automation philosophies, technical specifications, and standardized design templates.
  2. Develop and maintain technical guidelines and documentation for protection schemes and conduct technical meetings to promote    uniform practices across utilities.
  3. Design, configure, and validate control, protection, and automation software solutions in line with customer specifications and system requirements, obtain necessary approvals, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
  4. Lead and mentor the application support team, driving technical growth and competency in PA SOL, while reducing project lead times and improving configuration quality and efficiency.
  5. Foster knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the team. Maintain robust testing facilities in the Gurgaon lab for PA SOL solutions, implementing effective validation processes and quality assurance tools.
  6. Support HQ and local initiatives on Process Bus and advanced automation solutions, ensuring compliance with IEC61850 standards across projects, and represent Siemens in global IEC61850 committees to contribute to standardization efforts.
  7. Collaborate closely with customers, HQ teams, and internal stakeholders to align technical requirements and standards, and provide expert technical guidance during project execution and commissioning phases.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
  • 12+ years in Control, Protection, and Automation systems, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with IEC61850-based systems and Process Bus implementation.

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of Protection & Substation Automation- Products & Solutions portfolio for conventional stations/digital stations including latest technologies.
  • Knowledge of Siemens configuration tools: SIMATIC WINCC/SCC, Toolbox, Device Manager, DIGSI.
  • Knowledge of IEC/IS/IEEE standards applicable for Protection & Substation Automation
  • Strong understanding of Indian grid codes, protection philosophies, and transmission system.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to represent the organization in global technical forums.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Agile learner with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong critical thinking, quality awareness, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Background of handling Utilities / Industry / Infrastructure end-customer is desired
