Electrification & Automation

The Electrification & Automation (E&A) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing in our Future Grids portfolio to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s power grid!

The EA Business Unit in Wendell, North Carolina, which is its U.S. headquarters, focuses on photovoltaic inverters, medium-voltage power distribution equipment including packaging and services, and solutions, including automation.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our MV AIS Products (Switchgear and Motor Control Center) Project Engineering. This position will be based in Wendell, NC and allows a hybrid schedule of in office and remote work in the local area.

 
As an Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of Project Engineers and a support team, which have a significant role in business generation and execution of EA Business Unit. You will be working closely with Siemens Sales, Business Development, Application Engineering, the Execution team, and Customers on technical, contractual, and commercial issues and promoting overall Siemens business growth. The Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the entire engineering process, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring the delivery of high-quality MV AIS solutions that meet our clients' specifications and industry standards.

You will make an impact with the following responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Setting direction: Shape and communicate a clear vision aligned with organizational goals.
  • Leading collaboration: Partner with Sales, Product, Project Management, Application Engineering, and Quality to align solutions with technical and commercial needs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of Electrical Engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise.
Take ownership of the overall electrical engineering experience for our MV AIS products. This will include leadership and technical support during the quotation, design approval, detailed engineering and post-project lessons learned phasesCollaborate closely with the business development and quotations teams to ensure we are offering clear technical solutions with attainable schedules. Collaborate closely with R&D / PLM on developing tools and processes for the launch of new MV AIS products.Be a technical leader with a strong focus on employee skills development.Manage the day-to-day needs of the team. This will include training and coaching of new team members, schedule management, escalation resolution and coordination with factory/field stakeholdersCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, project management, and manufacturing, to define project requirements and deliverables.Drive the standardized design and development of MAIS systems, including components election, schematics creation, and layout design.Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations throughout the engineering process.Review and establish engineering processes and documents, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports, to ensure accuracy and completeness.Provide technical support to internal teams and external stakeholders, resolving engineering-related issues and inquiries in a timely manner.Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in MV AIS engineering, and incorporate relevant advancements into our engineering processes.Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team, promoting innovation, efficiency, and excellence in all aspects of MV AIS design and development.Team Management
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent.
  • Set performance goals, provide feedback, and foster a collaborative, innovative culture.
  • Lead team members across multiple locations, including remote contributors.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Provide clear, regular updates to senior leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering (or foreign equivalent).
  • 5 plus years of technical engineering experience, including leadership in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience driving customer‑focused culture within engineering teams as a leader.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership, and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong ability to interpret customer technical requirements and align them with Siemens’ product offerings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of power systems protection, controls, and automation applications 
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for training, events, and meetings.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the design and application of electrical distribution products. 
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution applications.
  • Working Knowledge of IEEE C37.20.2will be plus.
  • Working knowledge of standard protection and control technologies used in Medium voltage power distribution products.
  • Advanced Degree in Management.
  • Local candidates in and around the Raleigh / Durham area.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing direct reports.

The pay range for this position is $102,459 - $175,644. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.

The pay range for this position is $102,459 - $175,644 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
