About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Electrification & Automation (EA) business unit is headquartered in Wendell, NC. The EA Business Unit has a diverse portfolio of products, including, but not limited to, low-voltage MCC, CMR fuse saver, MV switchgear, MV circuit breakers, and metering, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relay maintenance and systems of a standard nature.

We are looking for a Industrial Engineer. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

This new facility supports the Customer Services (CS) organization, which provides engineered retrofit, repair, modernization, and service‑driven production for medium‑ and low‑voltage distribution equipment.

CS operations include the following production areas:

  • 38 kV Circuit Breaker Assembly Line
  • MV Switchgear CB Assembly Line
  • LV MCC Bucket Unit Assembly Line
  • Parts Kitting & Line‑Feeding Stations
  • Pre‑Fab Machinist / Fabrication Area
  • MV Circuit Breaker Repair & Retrofit Operations

 This is a full‑time, on‑site role requiring daily presence at our Wendell manufacturing campus, and a willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support production schedules

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Improving safety across all PACS CS production areas, including assembly, machining, repair, and kitting.
  • Measuring, documenting, and optimizing manufacturing processes for CS production lines, focusing on improving quality, reducing errors, and increasing throughput.
  • Leading improvement projects involving capital expenditure, tooling upgrades, layout changes, and workflow optimization.
  • Implementing digital manufacturing tools such as Digital Work Instructions, operator displays, and performance dashboards.
  • Managing production line updates associated with retrofit introduction, engineering changes, and new service offerings.
  • Designing, procuring, validating, and implementing fixtures, templates, calibrated tools, lifting devices, and shop aides to support CS operations.
  • Preparing equipment, tooling, and infrastructure to support evolving production challenges in a retrofit‑focused environment.
  • Coordinating and communicating technical information with project managers, supervisors, planners, quality teams, and production personnel.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or service/repair environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and process improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience simulating manufacturing systems and analyzing capacity or takt‑time models.
  • Understanding of machining, electrical assembly, or switchgear/circuit breaker repair processes.
  • Familiarity with computer programming, automation interfaces, or database systems.
  • Experience training production employees on engineering topics (BOMs, drawings, tooling, safety).
  • Ability to design and install production fixtures, tools, and equipment.

The pay range for this position is $61,547 - $105,509 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
