We currently have an opportunity for an experienced System Engineer – Control and Automation to join our Electrification and Automation team. Based in our North Ryde (NSW) offices, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within an area of the Siemens business that has enormous market potential.

Reporting to the System Engineering Manager, the System Engineer will be required to perform substation control and monitoring system design and parameterization.

You will also be required to assist the project management team in the development of the design and project plans, Human – Machine Interface/SCADA Parameterization, develop specifications and philosophy documents to meet customer requirements, lead FAT/SAT and/or commissioning as required, and check/approve designs/configurations from other parties.

In order to be considered for this opportunity you will need the following:
• In-depth knowledge of Automation Products, knowledge of Siemens Energy Automation products (SICAM RTU, SICAM SCC, SIMATIC WinCC, SIMATIC S7) or their equivalent from other vendors.
• Good knowledge of network switching and routing in substation environments.
• Sound knowledge of Siemens protection relays (SIPROTEC 5, Reyrolle relays) or their equivalent from other vendors.
• Good experience using programming languages (C#, C++, Python) or their equivalent for the purpose of automated configuration, automated drawings/documents, and creation of digital twins.
• Experience with logic development using PLC/RTU programming languages based on IEC 61131-3 (structured text, function block diagram, sequential function chart).
• Good knowledge of communication protocols, IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, etc in the configuration and troubleshooting contexts.
• Good knowledge of cyber security requirements for critical infrastructure. Experience in cyber security configuration for Windows based / embedded systems.
• Ability to write Specifications and Philosophy documents of projects to satisfy customer requirements.
