Automation Engineer will be responsible for development Development of Control and Electrical, 3D and 2D design. Programming of automation projects. Project implementation management with the departments involved.
Responsibilities:
- Develop control and electrical designs for automation equipment, including 3D and 2D schematics and documentation.
- Program automation equipment and manufacturing systems according to Siemens S7 standards and autonomous control routines.
- Develop, review, and troubleshoot PLC programs, HMI applications, and industrial automation systems.
- Design, develop, and validate electrical power and control diagrams.
- Select components and part numbers for automation projects, conducting technical research, prototyping, and validation activities.
- Define and integrate industrial instrumentation, sensors, actuators, safety systems, and control devices.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including risk assessments, electrical documentation, operating procedures, and validation records.
- Lead project implementation activities and coordinate execution plans with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, EHS, IT/OT, and production departments.
- Configure and troubleshoot industrial networks and communication protocols.
- Support Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure integration and connectivity within manufacturing environments.
- Develop Python-based applications and tools to support automation, data collection, analytics, and process optimization.
- Identify and implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to improve manufacturing efficiency and decision-making.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by applying Industry 4.0 concepts and digital manufacturing solutions.
What will you need to succeed?
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of proven experience in industrial automation projects (internships and co-op experience may be considered as additional experience).
- Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken).
Technical Skills:
Advanced Knowledge of:
- PLC programming (Siemens logic preferred) (TIA Portal).
- Industrial automation systems and machine control.
- Electrical control and power schematics development and interpretation.
- Industrial networks and communication protocols (Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU or similar).
- Robot programming and integration.
- Industrial instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and control devices.
- Industrial safety systems and machine safety standards.
- Python programming for automation and manufacturing applications.
- Operational Technology (OT) systems and manufacturing network architectures.
- One of the following CAD software tools: Solid Edge Electrical or Siemens NX.
Basic to Intermediate Knowledge of:
- Vision systems and 2D barcode readers.
- Visual Studio Code or else IDE Software for basic application deployment.
- AI and data analytics applications for manufacturing environments.
- SCADA platforms and industrial visualization systems.
- Accountability and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple automation projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and teamwork in a cross-functional environment.
