At our Siemens R&D Center we are focused on a product development including software development, hardware development, mechanical design, and testing for the next generation concept of Industry 4.0.

We would like to invite you to cooperate on the development of safety-critical industrial automation products. We focus on the complete design, development, verification and maintenance of F-IO modules for the ET 200SP HA system. Currently, we are developing a new IO module in full compliance with EU CRA regulations, building on our successful track record of delivering a complete portfolio of 4 F-IO modules over the past 8 years.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge safety automation technology that directly impacts industrial safety standards worldwide.

 Your task will be:

  • Developing and enhancing firmware components using C/C++ in embedded, resource-constrained environments for safety-critical applications compliant with IEC 61508:2010 (SIL 3).
  • Working with third-party safety frameworks and integrating firmware solutions into complex system architectures while maintaining functional safety requirements.
  • Supporting functional safety development processes and contributing to the design, verification, validation, and maintenance of failsafe modules
  • Troubleshooting and debugging firmware in safety-critical applications

What we will appreciate from you:
  • Strong experience in C++ embedded firmware development, with solid understanding of STM microcontrollers and embedded communication standards (UART, SPI, I2C)
  • Ability to read hardware schematics and operate basic hardware tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, logical analyzer) with understanding of interrupt handling and hardware-software integration
  • Solid understanding of embedded development toolchain including preprocessor, compiler, linker, assembler, map files, and linker scripts, along with git version control experience
  • Background in functional safety standards (IEC 61508 preferred), with experience in safety-critical embedded systems development and understanding of fault tolerance mechanisms.
  • Professional attitude with ability to take constructive criticism, engage in civil technical discussions, and contribute to team activities and knowledge sharing initiatives
  • Experience with C# for tooling development, familiarity with continuous integration practices, and exposure to agile development methodologies.
