Electrical Design Engineer

Position Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/Week
Summary of Duties: Customize and adapt standard medium voltage metal enclosed switchgear to specific customer requirements. Review drawings with customers and provide instructions to electrical and mechanical drafters. Follow-up with aftermarket requests and convert them into sales opportunities. Analyze customers’ technical specifications, one-line diagram and schematic diagram regarding the application of Siemens MV switchgear products along with associated protection and control systems and design appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations in cost-effective and timely manner. Work independently to create all documents for customer approval and manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgears. Take full ownership of the overall deliverables. Provide factory support during the manufacture of projects to ensure that the final deliverable is true to the design. Be the subject matter expert, sharing knowledge of the product and process to help others on the team achieve their goals. Collaborate in efforts to improve team processes and tools to drive up overall team efficiency. Utilize the NXTools+ configurator software to prepare specifications, layout drawings and bill of material with a high degree of accuracy. Utilize knowledge of various electrical CAD software packages to complete project work and drive efficiency with process improvements. Work with bill of material in an ERP system (SAP). Approximately 10% domestic travel required. Hybrid work permitted.
Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered, or as an Electrical Drafting Designer or an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires one (1) year of experience with the following skills: Analyzing customers' technical specifications regarding the application of protection and control systems and applying appropriate product solutions to meet customers’ expectations in a cost effective and timely manner; Evaluating electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements; Demonstrated technical knowledge of the Electrical Products Industry; Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear; Electrical CAD experience producing protection and control schematics; Working with bill of material in an ERP system, such as SAP; Using NXTools+ configurator software to prepare specifications, layout drawings, and bill of materials. Approximately 10% domestic travel required. Hybrid work permitted.
