YOUR NEW ROLE – CHALLENGING AND FUTURE-ORIENTED 

The Head of Government Affairs will be responsible for leading SEIL’s strategic engagement with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and key industry associations in India, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka. This 
high-impact role is designed to shape policy discourse, ensure regulatory alignment, and elevate SEIL’s position as a trusted industry leader. The incumbent will also play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships with prominent 
forums, advancing the company’s strategic agenda in alignment with national priorities along with adopting global advocacy topics to the country level and integrating them into county government affairs strategy. The role 
reports to the MD & CEO, SEIL and is based in Gurgaon.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Government Engagement: 
o Develop and implement a robust strategy for engaging with government officials, regulatory authorities, and policymakers across central and state level. 
o Serve as SEIL’s liaison for all government-related interactions, ensuring consistent and strategic communication. 
o Provide timely and actionable insights into the evolving political and regulatory landscape to proactively manage potential impacts on business operations. 


• Stakeholder Management: 
o Cultivate and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with government officials, community organizations, and industry leaders to support SEIL’s strategic objectives. 
o Serve as a credible advisor to external partners while ensuring alignment and consistency in messaging across all internal and external stakeholders. 

• Industry Influence & Representation: 
o Strengthening SEIL’s reputation as a thought leader in energy transition, decarbonization, innovation and sustainability. 
o Adopt Global advocacy topics to the country level and integrate them into county government affairs strategy. 
o Engage proactively with leading platforms such as CII, IEEMA, and other relevant bodies to advance SEIL’s business and strategic agenda. 
o Represent SEIL in high-level panels, task forces, committees, and prominent industry events to reinforce its leadership position and drive strategic agenda. 

 • Crisis Management: 
o Lead SEIL’s response to government-related crises with transparency, agility, and strategic clarity. 
o Develop and maintain contingency plans to proactively address potential regulatory or political disruptions. 
 
• Internal Collaboration: 
o Partner with Execution Unit leaders to ensure alignment between SEIL’s strategic priorities and evolving government policies. Advocate for funding opportunities. 
o Act as a communication bridge between government stakeholders and internal teams, fostering mutual understanding and responsiveness. 
o Collaborate with legal, compliance, and communications teams to deliver unified, consistent messaging across all external and internal channels.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE 
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in political science, Public Administration, Law, Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields; master’s degree preferred. 
• Experience: 20+ years in government affairs, public policy, or related roles, within multinational corporations in Energy, Industrial, or manufacturing sectors, with deep understanding of energy sector. 
• Expertise: Proven experience in engaging with government bodies and regulatory authorities. Strong track record in industry representation and policy influence with relevant stakeholders. 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES 
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop long-term strategies for regulatory and policy influence. 
• Industry Leadership: Strong understanding of energy sector and presence in relevant industry forums and ability to drive initiatives. 
• Regulatory Acumen: Deep understanding of licensing, regulatory norms, and government processes relevant to SEIL’s business.  
• Communication & Networking: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English and Hindi required, additional regional languages a plus. Strong networking skills with relevant stakeholders.
