Your new role – challenging and future-oriented - Head - PLM and Strategy - GT - PR (Switching Products and BIC*)

How You’ll Make an Impact
Reporting to the Execution Unit Head – SEIL GT PR SW, you will play a key role in driving a strong culture of accountability, execution, collaboration, and customer focus across the Siemens Energy businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
A) Strategic planning, market intelligence, portfolio direction, and long-term growth initiatives, aligning technology, product roadmap, regional expansion, and competitive positioning to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Market mapping: Market survey & demand analysis- Expand access to Market and customer data for both domestic and export market.
  • Analyzing potential/ Key customers/ Competition/ Business Models for growth, in close coordination with Offer Management.
  • Driving detailed market summarization during MI (Market Intelligence) exercise every year. Bringing transparency Product wise, target cost working for new product variants.
  • Evaluating and regular monitoring of Served and Un-served product wise.

B) Portfolio Management:
  • Manage the complete portfolio over its lifecycle. Maintaining the portfolio database up to date. Management & documentation of product changes & releases (Notifications).
  • Product gap analysis with respect to market. Reverse engineering, as applicable.
  • Cost and technology benchmarking with competition. Sharing of the market inputs/demands to R&D departments in a structured way, and likewise determine the product specific key features/USPs for handing over to Offer Management to leverage technology differentiation and value selling perspectives. Guiding portfolio rationalization, product lifecycle strategy, and entry/exit decisions.
  • Collaboration with cross functional teams to shape technology roadmaps (e.g., solidstate switchgear, IoT-enabled equipment, sustainability improvements).
  • Evaluation of potential white spaces, adjacencies, and new business models (e.g., services, software/monitoring, lifecycle offerings).
  • Preparation of Business Case for any new development/ customization or localization of Product Variants, by interacting with all associated functions for their inputs. Identifying Product development/ enhancement needs to increase market penetration.
  • Conduct Portfolio Workshop and Design-to-Value workshop for each product line (AIS, GIS and BIC*) every year for exchanging inputs from associated functions like R&D, Offer/Order Management, Engineering and Tech Services. Develop strong Collaboration with Internal functions as well as concerned HQ functions to keep track of latest developments and ensure the latest updates, changes in the product features. Good networking skills are desired.
  • Knowledge sharing, training and presentation to customers for sustainable portfolio (Blue). Drive market development and user awareness.
  • Guide portfolio rationalization, product lifecycle strategy, and entry/exit decisions.
  • Evaluate potential white spaces, adjacencies, and new business models (e.g., services, software/monitoring, lifecycle offerings).

C) Collaboration with global functions:
  • Global collaboration; partnering for development projects globally. Alignment with other network factories while analyzing customization for global needs to shape technological roadmaps (e.g., solid-state switchgear, IoT-enabled equipment, sustainability improvements).
  • Facilitate compliance with R&D project milestones within agreed framework and protocols.
  • Develop strong network with concerned HQ functions to keep track of latest developments and ensure the latest updates, changes in the product features. In
  • applicable cases, pulling the support from Global functions as needed by business.
  • Build alliances over pool of experts: Understanding & relating product development/customization needs & market impacts.

D) Digital Portfolio:
  • Drive localization of Digital Portfolio in close collaboration/ alignment with Global functions (GT DG). Coordinate with Offer Management for exploring local market for promoting Digital Portfolio (E.g., Asset guard). Develop a niche industry segment for this portfolio, leveraging it as a default add-on with our conventional switchgear products.
  • Develop a knowledge center internally to deal with the futuristic requirements of Digital Portfolio. Strive for a sustainable incremental business out of this digital portfolio.

  • Bachelor / master’s degree in Engineering
  • 20 years+ working experience below
  • Market Intelligence and Analysis: Strong experience in market mapping, demand analysis, and competition benchmarking, with a focus on analyzing potential key customers and business models for growth.
  • Portfolio Management: Proven track record of managing product portfolios throughout their lifecycle, including product gap analysis, product changes, cost benchmarking, and competitive analysis.
  • Business Case Development: Expertise in preparing detailed business cases for new product developments, customizations, or localization by collaborating across multiple functions such as R&D, Offer Management, and Engineering.
  • Product Development and Market Penetration: Experience identifying and executing product development or enhancement needs to increase market reach and positioning, with a solid understanding of reverse engineering.
  • Global Collaboration: Experience working in a global environment, partnering with global R&D teams for product development and alignment with international market needs.
  • Digital Portfolio Development: Experience in promoting and localizing digital portfolios within industrial segments, with the ability to develop sustainable business plans for digital offerings.
  • Workshop and Knowledge Sharing: Skilled in conducting workshops, presentations, and training sessions for internal teams and customers to promote product portfolio awareness and market development.
  • Networking and Stakeholder Management: Strong collaboration and networking abilities to engage with internal teams, global functions, and external   stakeholders to keep track of market trends, product developments, and customer needs.
