Your new role – challenging and future-oriented


Role Purpose:
Act as the technical authority for mechanical design aspects during the tendering process for steam turbine services. The role ensures that proposals for spare parts, modernization, and upgrades are technically accurate, feasible, and competitive, leveraging deep knowledge of turbine design, reverse engineering, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support for Tendering
- Provide design-related inputs for proposals, including feasibility checks, buildability assessments, and technical risk evaluation.
- Review customer specifications and identify design implications for Siemens and other OEM fleets.
- Recommend appropriate design solutions for spare parts, assemblies, and modernization projects.

2. Reverse Engineering Expertise
- Validate reverse-engineered components for dimensional accuracy and fitment - other OEM fleet, for spare parts, upgrades etc.
- Ensure proposed solutions align with OEM design principles and Siemens standards.
- Support cost estimation by advising on manufacturing complexity and tolerances.

3. Turbine Train Buildability
- Assess mechanical integration feasibility for complete turbine train configurations.
- Provide guidance on assembly constraints, alignment requirements, and component compatibility.

4. Fleet Knowledge
- Act as a subject matter expert for Siemens steam turbine design.
- Advise on design changes, upgrades, and lifecycle considerations for entire fleet.

5. Customer & Internal Collaboration
- Participate in customer clarification meetings to explain technical aspects.
- Work closely with Sales, Proposals, and Engineering teams to ensure technical compliance and competitiveness.

Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:
- 10–15 years in steam turbine mechanical design or engineering support.
- Strong exposure to reverse engineering and aftermarket solutions.
- Experience in multi-OEM fleet design considerations.

Technical Expertise:
- Design Knowledge: Rotor, casing, blades, diaphragms, seals, bearings, couplings.
- Reverse Engineering: Understanding of dimensional tolerances, fits, and manufacturability.
- Manufacturing Awareness: Ability to assess complexity and cost implications of designs.
- Tools Familiarity: Siemens NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD (interpretation), PLM systems.

Compliance & Standards:
- Familiarity with ASME, API, DIN, and OEM-specific standards.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and inspection protocols.

Behavioral Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams.

KPIs:
- Accuracy and completeness of technical inputs for proposals.
- Reduction in design-related risks during execution.
- Contribution to proposal win rate through robust technical support.
