Siemens Buildings is seeking a dedicated Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) in Projects to strategically lead and integrate all supplier quality activities related to new product introductions, supplier qualifications, reallocations, and engineering changes. In this role you will partner closely with Procurement, Engineering and Supply Chain to proactively qualify, develop, and manage suppliers for strategic projects, ensuring compliance, performance, and long-term success.

This position is an onsite/in-office role at our Buffalo Grove, IL location.


As a Supplier Quality Engineer in Projects, you will:

  • Lead and manage the entire Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new supplier introductions, part changes, engineering changes, and supplier reallocations, ensuring all requirements are met and documented
  • Drive supplier qualification and certification processes, including conducting comprehensive supplier audits (system, process, product) for potential and new strategic suppliers
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Procurement during New Product Introduction (NPI) phases to define supplier quality requirements, conduct risk assessments, and ensure supplier readiness
  • Manage strategic supplier projects focused on new business opportunities, capacity expansion, technology transfers, and supply chain optimization, from a quality perspective
  • Develop and implement supplier quality strategies and controls to ensure early identification and mitigation of potential quality risks
  • Monitor and report on supplier project progress, quality gates, and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to project deliverables, escalating risks and issues as needed
  • Act as the primary quality interface for suppliers during project execution, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to Siemens quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support the continuous improvement of supplier quality processes and tools

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or Project Management within a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on new product introduction and supplier development
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)
  • Proven experience conducting supplier audits (process, system, product) and driving supplier qualification
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex supplier projects simultaneously
  • In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality tools (e.g., FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, 8D)
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, electronics assembly, plastics molding, stamping), enabling effective supplier evaluation and project management across diverse commodities
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as Power BI for developing, analyzing, and presenting key performance metrics and dashboards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive, analytical problem-solver with a strong ability to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive solutions
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier visits and audits (estimated 25-40%)
  • Available to work on-site, Monday through Friday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Quality Certifications: Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience with global supply chain management and working with diverse international suppliers
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems and quality management software platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies applied to supplier development
  • Demonstrated expertise in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)

The pay range for this position is $82,538 - $141,494 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
